Yeah, I can't explain it, but I'm also in the camp that hates when ppl call it the "iTouch." I guess it's kinda the same as when ppl say "warsh" instead of wash, or "warter" instead of water, or "fustrated" instead of frustrated. Saying these things seems to indicate a certain lack of knowledge, intelligence, etc. ("seems to indicate," not "certifies them as a moron"). :-D

Irrational? Perhaps. But it doesn't change the fact that it annoys me.

Actually, it may be irrational to get annoyed by someone shortening iPod touch to iTouch, and yet have no problem changing people to ppl. ;)

I agree. iPod nano's aren't called iNano's, and the iPod classic isn't called an iClassic, so why should the iPod touch be called an iTouch. I mean, it sounds kinda perverted tbh, but it doesn't bother me though. It's just an abbreviation.

"I touch myself." LOL :D

I love abbreviations, and I have nothing against itouch except that for some reason I HATE HATE HATE it. It's weird, really. I just hate the sound of it.

Also... I think the manager should know and call it what it is, even if only for the sake of sounding professional.

Ok I agree there is no reason for it too bug people but it does so whatever I don't care. I have used the phrase before but I usually say Ipod when I am not sure the people I am speaking to know what an Ipod touch is (you would be surprised the amount of people I know have only seen mine) . My question is when I am talking to someone who knows what it is I sometimes just say touch to me that seems a little more appropriate abbreviation. How do you all feel about that?

I always say touch, or when I'm not thinking, itouch. /wince Yes, it does occasionally slip out and I do visibly wince each time I say it on accident lol. Most people know what you mean when you say touch, first of all because you're not likely to be talking about it before warming up to the topic, so they'll have context. And even then, it's pretty easy to figure it out. And if not, just explain by adding the ipod. And I have officially been unintentionally sucked up into the "itouch" debate

I'm inclined to agree, but that's simply because I hate ATI's garbage drivers :D
hahah I agree =P
Altho, he was trying to convince me I would have a higher frame rate, and a 7600gt was newer technology (and I don't even think the 4870's were out yet at that point... he was just dumb)

Why dont you people just call it an iPod? Im pretty sure people with an Ipod clasic dont walk around saying "hey dude check out my iPod classic." Or "im gonna go get my ipod classic." Its a freakin ipod. You call an ipod nano an ipod not an iNano or an ipod nano just iPod.

I do actually call it an iPod, especially when differentiating from my partner's iPhone. However, when posting to this forum, if you just say "iPod," you'd get called out for not specifying which iPod you were talking about -- classic, nano, touch, mini...

I do most of the time. But there's some places - Mac Rumors and stores for example - where so many things are based around the different iPod models that it is important to distinguish the certain one you are talking about.
