I will laugh if they put out an Apple TV with a Pro chip and the same or higher price. Nobody needs better performance on that thing and no it's not going to compete with consoles.
unless they get some good games your right. COD on the phone is the best game i can play on an apple platform in my opinion it would be nice to see that on the ATV.

Fancy new hardware, faster than ever, but the real culprit is software - my wallet is on wait & see status.

indeed m4 pro can't even compete with console gpu power. the idea that an old iPhone chip is going to do it is absurd

One of my mini's has failed (randomly plays music without being touched or voice commanded!) so was hoping there'd be a new one to replace the pair with.

“This company is producing devices with WAY more performance and efficiency than is required for the purpose. THEY SHOULDN'T DO THAT! Devices should have barely capable or severely underpowered chips in anything that’s not a high end server.”
—Folks used to Intel chips

If the details were in Apple code, then it’s not a leak, it’s official software content released as part of the beta programme

Headline writer’s clickbait strikes again

It’s great to see Apple still investing into the iPad mini. It’s my favourite device!

This is good information Macrumors! (I was just starting to lean towards an iPad Mini).

Be sure to update the Buyers guide section, for example iPad Mini from NEUTRAL to DON'T BUY.

But the guessed release is 2026 or 2027 (so, likely 2027). Does that qualify for DON'T BUY?

Remember the good old days when Apple would hunt people down like rabid dogs in the street to prevent leaks...

If Siri still sucks, this won't matter.

Not sure who is asking for this, but ok.

A chip bump to a device type that shouldn't even have so much complexity inside to begin with.

No mention of if they'll address the actual problem with iPad Mini -- a dogs*** screen still.

Always good to see .. assuming they don't jack the price.

lmao -- I won't comment and irritate the few users of AVP around here.

Yawn

I love my AVP but that is a big chip jump. Tempting if they have uses for it. Hope power consumption is not too bad.

Being an iPad mini fan I’m glad to see it being updated at a quicker rate than it was before.

Not that a chip bump alone from A17 to A19 would be enough for me to upgrade. Slimmer bezels, 120hz and/or Face ID would though!

“Slip?” - purposeful redirection, they are tired of everyone talking about.
1. They have lost their groove in creating no new products
2. They are losing the AI race badly

In typical MacRumors fashion, they made this post, then individual posts about everything inside this post.

Yeah... well, we have to see if/when it happens. I'm still amazed how good the old 2017 AppleTV run most Arcade games.

If the new HomePod mini gets another old S-series chip, chances are that its wifi is just as poor as the current one and has no power for proper local AI powered Siri. 🤞

I’m happy. Maybe I’m getting older…

Just got an iPad Mini for $370 at Best Buy last month - this A17 chip should serve my needs for the next 5+ years. I’m very happy with my Apple Watch Ultra 2 … still has 99% battery health - looks like I won’t be shelling out more $ to Apple this year - which is ok with me because I already give them enough with my iCloud sub, AppleCare+ sub, and everything else…

Planning on keeping the iPhone for awhile longer.

Only thing that interests me is the new Apple TV. While I don’t NEED to update, I might do that.
