Everyone rushing to get an iPhone 6 but

I've bought launch day iPhones since 3G and none have had issues.*

*iPhone 5 had battery problems within a month. Turns out, they all have battery problems (READ: Crappy life not even close to specs).

Is that standard on all AMEX purchases or some sort of program you're on? I bought mine with AMEX, so was just curious.
Standard on all AMEX, at least the ones issued by AMEX not sure about the ones with partner banks. I know my USAA AMEX does it as well as my other AMEX

I have 1 year AppleCare plus my Amex extends my warranty for another year. I'm good if my device is plagued with faults :)

Did you pay for your phone outright? That's the only way you'd be covered. AmEx warranty extension requires the entire device cost be put on the card.

If not, best case is they'd cover the subsidized price you paid, assuming they don't find out that was a partial payment for the device.

Don't remember that the first shipments of a new product has some sort of malfunction a lot of times.

If you get a faulty iPhone 6S Plus or 6S don't get mad.

Most of the "faults" you see people complaining about at launch are complete BS.

Sounds like OP is mad, jealous and envious all at the same time. At least he's enjoying his outdated phone, or trying to convince himself he is.

They don't change hardware mid-model. If the 6 has a fault, it will be fixed in the 6S ;)

Not quite true: BloombergBusinessWeek's Apple's iPhone 6 First Responders

"That paid off with the original iPhone in 2007, when many were quickly returned with faulty touchscreens, according to an engineer involved in fixing them. Some suppliers manufactured iPhones with a flaw near the earpiece that let sweat from a person’s face seep in, shorting the screen. The EFFA team added a new coating to shield the leaky area and told their suppliers to do the same on their assembly lines. Other EFFA workers, investigating the failure of early iPhone speakers, concluded that the problem was a lack of airflow that caused the speakers to build up pressure and implode during flights from Chinese factories to the U.S."

You are correct as in there don't make significant changes (i.e. features), but do routinely make minor changes to address minor to moderate defects and to address changes to manufacturing processes.

The most consistent issue by far is backlight bleeding. But that doesn't hinder functionality so I am not too worried.

I have a Costco Amex and one of the "perks" are Device Protection and Extended warranty. Look it up! It's awesome. You must purchase the entire amount on Amex card.

That's correct. Entire amount has to be paid and since I preordered unlocked it is valid for my iPhone for 2 years. If you buy it subsidized and say your phone drops and OOW replacement is the cost of OR less, they will cover it. If it's more you pay the difference. The deal is amazing regardless.

Apple allows only perfect iPhones to leave the production line and head into the hands of consumers. This is why I too have never experienced an issue with a launch day iPhone.

Maybe. For about 1%. Had an iPhone 4 and 5 on launch day without issue.

The first shipments consists of millions of devices. You always hear a handful of horror stories. You don't hear much from the millions who are satisfied. Also, that's what warranties are for.
