Am I the only one excited for the new Siri? I know Apple will knock this out of the park! They are never first but always better! :)
Nope, I'm excited too. We'll see.
Some of these products are a bit too little, too late for me. 🤷‍♂️
I dread going back to the Android ecosystem, but I miss being able to pay once for Apple apps. Working good for you?
Yes indeed, the excitement is gone, the premium pricing too much, the barely there improvements too little too late.

The competition is suddenly looking better than ever.

Tired of waiting years for an Apple foldable, I bought a Z Fold7 upon its release. What an enjoyable, fun experience. It revealed a level of quality and innovation Apple has since abandoned.
How about you, Android ecosystem working good for you?
I was, but the collaboration with Google disappointed me. For me it’s like buying a nice sports car with an engine built by some other company.
BMW's Z4 engine is in the Toyota Supra. And with the BMW/Toyota platform sharing agreement ending, Toyota is thinking of going to Mazda for the new version of the Supra. Either they'll slap a Ford engine in that Supra, or maybe a Mazda rotary engine.
Cosmic Orange It's The Ugliest iPhone Ever!
Maybe they'll add black stripes to it and call it the TigerPhone, or "TiPhone" for short!

I’ve worked in a cross platform environment for years. Android, iOS, Windows, macOS and Linux.

Each has their own unique features and strengths. While in Apple circles it’s fashionable to bash Android, that’s largely promoted by the company’s elitist attitude and years of influencing their customers.

Those who have first hand experience with the various platforms know that each of them while different, are highly functional.

Android offers more freedom than Apple, not only to customize one’s device, but more flexibility to create software and apps for specific proprietary purposes. That’s but one reason why globally many manufacturers build their own Android smartphones and other devices.

Thank you. I moved from the "Droid" phone (Motorola, I think?) to iPhone 5. I still have the old iPhone 5, but I think the Droid is long gone.

In phones Android leads globally, but trails iPhone in North America. In tablets iPad leads over Android everywhere globally.
Very true, iPad dominates globally.

Speaking of domination, 70% of global smartphone sales are Android whereas iPhone only represents 28%.

Apples clever strategy is positioning iPhones as not just a smartphone but a fashion accessory. Featuring many colors and accessories to appeal to the fashion conscious narcissistic characteristic's of customers especially in the USA, Apples premium price also creates the illusion of a luxury product.

Apples brilliant marketing continues to pay off.

^^ It needs to be said Apple doesn’t play in the budget sandbox of phones whereas other manufacturers do. That means the market for sub $600 phones is all Android. The 16e is the upper end of that “affordable” market so doesn’t make much of a dent there. It doesn’t matter that a lot of those sub $500 phones are largely crap, they are available for those who won’t or can’t pay more.

Android dominance in phones globally isn’t due to Android being better, more due to accessibilty. If Android was better overall then why doesn’t it dominate in tablets? And there are Android tablets cheaper than iPad and they still don’t dominate.

Firsthand, here, we have Android tablets ranging $200-$900 CAN versus the iPad lineup ranging $500-$1700. We sell far more iPads than Android tablets across the range.

I don’t advocate for any brand or platform and I’m not suggesting Android is better. Just sharing experience with many phones globally. Not everyone needs or wants flagship models.

The post above reflects how successful Apple has been convincing others that anything other than iPhones are “largely crap”.

It’s good being Apple.

I want to get excited about the long rumored “home hub”, but I’m struggling with it. I got overly excited about the HomePod Mini and bought six of them. I’m not kidding when I say that at no time in the past year and a half have all of them worked simultaneously. Meanwhile the og HomePod we have has never not worked. The unreliable nature of the Minis have prevented me from getting any more of the new full sized versions.

I really feel like Apple should take a year to clean up code and address ecosystem-wide problems. Strange how the more advanced the devices are getting, the less reliable they become.

iOS, iPadOS and macOS 26 was and is a huge undertaking. It’s as if they purposely decided to do this as a distraction from the failing Apple Intelligence/ Siri Project.

In fact this undertaking is so significant it seems like it’s consumed a vast majority of resources that Apple has no time to debug and improve their many other products.

Everything Apple is releasing in 2026 might also suffer as a result of the company's obsession with Liquid Glass, a sorry state of affairs that continues to take its toll. As they strive to debug 26.x the ship continues to be adrift at sea.

Looks like an exciting year for Apple and their customers.

So the rumour is that the Studio Display will get a newer, faster CPU than the low cost MacBook or iPhone 17. What the heck is a display doing that needs that kind of power?
I get that it needs a Thunderbolt controller. The display, camera, microphones and speakers are just dumb components hanging on the bus exchanging data with the computer. Even colour calibration is easily handled by the computer and a bit of RAM that can be flashed with new data. So why have a CPU at all? Does anyone actually know?

A new Apple TV in 2026? I hear pigs are flying now too.

I think there's been a rumored new Apple TV for 2023... 2024... and 2025...

OLED lasts longer than LCD, so should be an ideal tech for a laptop you plan to keep for a long time. Screen burn in hasn't been a widespread problem on phones, tablets, or gaming monitors for more than a decade.
Just to back this up, my 2016 LG OLED TV Has been used extensively for gaming with tons of static images and has never shown a hint of burn in.
