I agree. I know we all want new features, especially me with wanting additional Haptic Touch function, but I’m more than happy to have stable refined software that works. iOS 11 was not much fun.

I'm expecting good things from iOS 13. Considering the features were pushed out at least an entire year, I think they'll be fairly ready to go come first beta.

Where is a way to limit or predict random screen taps to stop butt dialing for example.

How is this even possible? If you are putting your iPhone in your pocket without first turning the screen off, you're doing it wrong.

Would be nice to have the shuffle and repeat toggles on the lock screen when playing music. I hate having to go into the music app just to put it on repeat. Even at that, you still have to scroll down for the shuffle and repeat. Ok, I’m being lazy here, but you have more than enough room on the phone to add the shuffle and repeat on the same screen as the music player play, rewind, and forward.

Either you have an available software update or you need to verify or update security settings for your apple id (system asks for that occasionally). Whichever is the case, you will need to open the settings app to find out.

Nothing There. Just the stupid 1 :)

Could they make the shortcut to turn wi-fi off, I don't know, TURN WI-FI OFF? Same for bluetooth. Sure I get its neat for those setting up a hot spot, but I managed to set up hot-spots quite well for years. Honestly its a non sequitur of a design choice. I care more about battery life than a marginally better way to get up a hot spot. Could you make it a long press on the icon or something, like they do for the torch?

Add a VPN shortcut while you are at it.

I would argue that the touch-to-wake feature introduced on the X and carried over to the Xs and Xs Max actually means it doesn't matter if you turn the screen off before putting in your pocket. While I haven't butt dialed anyone on my X series phones, I have had to enter my passcode to unlock after removing it from a pocket because the touch-to-wake has turned the screen on while in my pocket, thereby triggering attempts at Face ID unlocking.

Do you have Apple Pay set up? I noticed that was the "trigger" on my badge icon... Once I set it up and/or clicked through the "don't use Apple Pay" (depending on the device and my intentions), it went away.

Didn’t even know that worked! I would be scared it automatically pays the bill of someone in front of me if I am standing too close tho ...

In my experience, you have to be within an inch or two of the NFC reader on the terminal to get any connection. Maybe even less... Hopefully you're not invading the personal space of the people in front of you that much. ;)

You rest your thumb on Touch ID or look at the phone while putting it on the reader. It then automatically pulls up Apple Pay and transmits the info in one go.

That's exactly how it works on Touch ID devices, but not quite so on the new iPhones with Face ID. On those iPhones apple pay will automatically pull up when you put the phone near the reader, but it will still ask you afterwards to double click the side button to turn on the Face ID camera and sensors to scan your face. It won't scan the face automatically as Touch ID scanned the fingerprint if the finger was resting on the home button when Apple Pay was triggered.

Does the Apple TV count as a TV for control via HomeKit? It’s insane that you can’t turn it on or off with HomeKit at the moment, and just plain stupid if you can third party TVs but not the Apple TV.

Do you mean rhe iPhone remote app for controlling the volume?
It does work with the physical remote. But I guess you know o
Yes I do, which is why the iPhone would probably need a sound blaster. Though I'm wondering if it would be possible to control the soundbar using the remote app with newer TVs that have some HDMI control capabilities. I'm going to be buying a new TV before long and need to figure out if there is some specific feature I should look for the enable that in the future.

Hey macduke - When using the remote app in control center, try using the phone volume buttons to change volume on your soundbar. If your soundbar supports HDMI ARC, and the feature is turned on, then it should work. It works on my system to control my receiver volume.
And now I see your message and I think it answers my question above. I'll have to try that, but my TV turns 10 years old this year so I'm probably going to need to upgrade. I'm pretty a technical user but have just never got into all the ins and outs of TV tech aside from panel technologies. Some weekend I'm going to have to fall down that rabbit hole.

I’ve had an X since launch. I don’t see how touch-to-wake turns into a butt dial? The phone dialer is not part of the lock screen....

No Apple Pay here

Boo to the done button in the wallet. Much less intuitive and less quicker than pressing the cards at the bottom.

Nice, but I can't believe they reworked the Apple TV remote layout, but still didn't put in volume controls. If I want to change the volume on my TV, I can use the physical remote, but not the one on my phone? Not cool.

You can use the volume buttons on your phone to control tv volume. I do it all the time. I have mine going through my sound bar via arc hdmi input. Not sure if that has anything to do with it, but yea. Same buttons you use to turn your ringer volume, turn the tv volume.
