iOS 15 is starting to look like another “let’s move the furniture around and see if that looks better” upgrade to me. No wonder my 6s is also getting it, nothing significant performance-wise that justifies dropping it.
I felt the same way initially. Once you get used to the gestures, Safari is better in some ways (worse in others). The focus stuff seems a bit much, maybe it will be more useful on my iPad if I ever try to use it for work again. Otherwise it’s not much different from ios14.

Thank goodness...I installed the public beta on my iPhone and Safari is a MESS. Stop moving stuff around for the sake of moving stuff around, Apple.

Now let’s redesign iPadOS grid view and fix it, bring back iPadOS 14 layout.
I forget about that the second day I use my iPad. App Library is where I launch my apps now. No need for a page full of app icons.

Have you tested the beta yet? The search bar was jumping from the top to the bottom repeatedly while using safari. It was ridiculous, and not in line with their perceived goal of bringing the user elements closer to the bottom of the screen. That said, I’ll admit that it looks boxy in beta 3, which is in opposition to all the rounded corners we are seeing.
I haven’t, I didn’t want to install it on my daily driver and the other usable phone I have access to is an iPhone 6s so there’s other issues I’d run into there 😅😂

In my opinion, having the URL bar at the bottom is the worst idea from Apple since they hid the flag icon in Mail under the reply action. Who in their right mind would think the “standard” reply icon would give you the option to flag an email? Apple was once intuitive. Now they just want to redesign their UI to make people think they are innovative.

While I am glad it works for you, it's still not a good reason to leave it "broken", different people different use scenario, either you remove the grid view and make the Library default or fix the grid ;)

They need to make History in Safari more prominent.
Clearing history is a pain.
Give us a close all tabs + clear history option when long pressing the bottom right tab icon on the url bar

It's a bit of annoying when I'm at the bottom of a page, and I have to scroll all the way back to top then will I be able to pull down to refresh.. Maybe I'm missing some shortcut..
Tapping at the top of the screen (above the address bar) takes you back to the top of the page.

I like it at the bottom. I prefer it out of the way on my phone. Don’t need or want to see it. The need to fix the matching colour to the website thing that replaces it at the top though. At th moment that rarely works. Example it’s blue now at the top of my dark theme macrumours page. Looks weird but probs a beta thing.

Zooming to the top of the screen to type seemed a bit weird, top of the keyboard is better. Pull to reload works well but an easy to access reload button is still necessary.

ipados though. Safari seems a bit unintuitive though I don’t dislike it per se.
they need to fix the homescreen rotation issues though. Who wants all their stuff in completely a different place when they rotate? Weird weird choice.

I haven't tried any of the betas, but I'm not a fan of Apple constantly hiding controls in their OSs - particularly iOS.

If we're going to have the controls at the bottom of the screen in iOS - which is a good idea in the age of large phones - I'd prefer this to be done system wide in one go.

I like change. I tried to get used to the address bar at the bottom. I’ve made up my mind. I f**king hate it.

Just bring back old Safari. It was fine. This release is just fiddling with things to say you did.
It was fine on iPhone 6S, 7, & 8. The FaceID phones with the bigger screens and different aspect ratios need the URL field to be lowered nearer to the home swipe up pill to use Safari one-handed. The Reachability work around isn't convenient. Entering text in the URL field on an iPhone XS meant I had to use both hands in old Safari. With new Safari, I can use one. This was the only Safari change I wanted after going from iPhone 7 to iPhone XS.

To be frank, I don't care. The UX change is awful, and the number of people this will hurt seriously outweighs the six people that feel the way you do.

Yeah, the focus seems to be more on the iPad which is definitely needed. Apple has been slow in pushing the iPad to its full potential. I would appreciate that if I still owned one. I may get the upcoming 6th generation iPad mini if the rumors of a major redesign (a smaller iPad Air 4) become a reality.

That’s great that you don’t care, and it’s fine that you’re upset about the changes. But let’s not just make stuff up on it all, because you have no idea about who cares or not either way.
There are plenty of browsers that have offered a bottom of the screen url bar for a long time now. It’s likely never really hurt anyone. Either you can adapt, or you can complain, or you can use another browser, or indeed another os. Hurt is a strange word to use considering what the word actually means. In actual fact if you tried to use the new system (beta, by the way- if you know what that means..), then you would realise it actually makes very little difference whilst surfing, other than being out of the way when you have already used the field.

Huh? Way easier to tap the search bar when it’s at the bottom that all the way at the top.
