I hope the Messages in iCloud updates eventually bring functionality more similar to photos where it manages on device storage more optimally. I don't like to delete my old messages but I don't necessarily need them all on my device. I just want something that is searchable and accessible when necessary but not taking 10s of GBs of increasingly sparse storage.

Who the heck has 33GB of iMessages? What are you getting sent 4K movies? Wow! That person seriously needs to delete their attachments! 🤣

I call it "digital house keeping" (or lack of). My wife is super bad at that. She doesn't delete anything then wonder why her phone / Mac runs so slowly. I often see her badging 5 figures in unread emails.
