There seems to be a new "Lock/Unlock" feature under the Display & Brightness setting. Im still trying to figure out how it works tho.
It‘s been there since iPadOS 16 at least I believe. I think I tried it before, and it works as kind of like a clamshell mode. The screen stays on when you close the keyboard or folio though, so you have to remember to switch on and off the setting, which is a bit annoying. But it’s great for occasions when you’re working for a while at a desk with Stage Manager, and want to keep the iPad case closed. It would still be better to have a true clamshell mode that allowed the iPad’s display to turn off, without turning off the external monitor.

Then go away, Please. You are offering nothing but whining and no suggestion how to change/improve it. Sorry to single you out but I get annoyed that kind of post.
Personally I find more annoying posts like yours. Users are users. They are not payed by Apple, nor should necessarily have the creativity or skills to propose new features. They can criticise what they see and say they find it boring (it really is and have been for many years in a row now) without proposing anything whatsoever. Paid apple developers should find new exciting features, not paying users.

I noticed the shared tab groups and profiles in Beta 1. I set them up on my Mac and saw them down at the bottom on my iPhone.... until 3 days ago. On my Mac - groups are still there but no pages. This kinda p*ssed me off as I spent a good amount of time setting it up - but it's a Beta. Yesterday I noticed that they are on my phone but still not on my Mac and iPad. After updating to Beta 2 - they did not restore on the Mac and still remain on the iPhone and iPad.

So far 6 hours into it. Feels a bit more responsive. Battery life seems about the same. Happy the music settings. App has been fixed.

Also, the new menu when using "send a message" on SIRI is neat... It defaults to messages, but tapping on the arrows drops that menu down

How’s the battery life? Keen to try the beta but I think I remember seeing a comment of about 10% per hour for beta 1. I can cope with bugs but waiting for decent battery

The music player in CarPlay looks different to me, I’m not 100% but I think they got rid of the buttons and just kept the symbols for Play/Prev/Next etc

Hi,

I still see this bug when I press on application icon longer to move it to folder then it show dummy notification counters on this folder and after I put it to folder then it disappear. Anyone with the same "feature"?

When I do not press longer app icon - no notifications:

Anyone faced also this bug? I had the same in previous beta.

Regards.

With the addition of notification options under StandBy, I think Apple need to overhaul, consolidate and simplify their notification options. At the moment there just seems to be too many loosely-related options scattered through Settings that affect how and when you get notifications (or not).

It's now also possible to log emotions in the past, select a time for a log and view logged emotions in a calendar (similar to the one available in the Fitness app).

Sorry for the screenshots in Italian

Thank god. I don't think I was the only who created a personal and work profile before realizing there was a default "no profile" option with default/personal behavior.
The problem was that you couldn't select the "no profile" option in a focus filter.

The messages check-in change sounds interesting.

On one hand, it's a great safety feature, on the other hand, it could potentially be used in quite a coercive way.

Don’t know if it’s a temporary thing after every update, but after updating my iPhone Advanced Data Protection is showing off. My iPad is updating right now, so will see what happens.

Don’t know if it’s just a UI bug or something behind the scenes like resetting up the device since it was updated. Don’t have time to investigate, heading to work, but thought I would share. Suspect it’s the later with the spin icon.

iOS 17 is so boring I don’t even know why I am on MacRumors!

God help us for a very boring year ahead as these changes could easily qualify for an iOS 17.6 release when innovation is reserved for next version.
Why must there always be some groundbreaking change every release? I’d rather they fix the issues and every couple of years bring out something new. It’s a phone for making calls/sending emails, consuming media and playing games with the odd work related task thrown in. It’s not going to get you to the moon and back.
