In beta 6, in recent calls, now if we tap on the contact it calls directly. In previous betas, if we touched the contact, it would show us information. I think it was better in the previous betas as it avoided accidental calls. I think in this beta it's a mistake that that's changed. Can you report him? So that it comes back like the previous betas.

Is there a way to follow the actual AI improvements that come along over time? Like, Macrumors puts out these articles that show the updates in the beta but what AI changes are being made each time? My phone storage related to apple intelligence is double what it was the day I downloaded the first 18.1 beta.

A hot mess.

There are android phones being sold in 2024 that are running android 12 (keep in mind android 15 is the newest version).

Then it depends on what android brand you buy, the phone itself (budget phones never get updated) and where you buy it from lmao
Sounds like a hot mess indeed :) I've never owned an android (unless old Motorola phones like the RAZR are considered that). Don't really see myself going in that direction either :D

I really liked that too. Unfortunately it wasn't that way in the favorites tab, and that's the one I mostly use. Would love for that to work that way. I can't even count the time when I was reaching for the 'end call' button and ended up dialing someone because the person I was speaking with hung up a split second before me)))

I’m still getting the allow “app” to use your location? Popup all the time. I have giving those apps permission over and over. I had this issue in iOS and PadOS 17 too.

I cant get to my messages. The bar where the message icon lives is just a black bar and when i tap anywhere on it it crashes the app
Mine is ok, well as far as is possible given that it’s a bugfest at the best of times.

I’ve had similar things happen in the past where the only thing that fixed it was uninstalling and reinstalling. It’s a bit flakey.

I’m not sure you understand what fragmentation is. And based on most of the responses in this thread, people forget they are using beta software that is literally intended to be used for testing to weed out problems. Good news is this is most of the world, so Apple is at least hitting target use cases.
I know very much what fragmentation is. I used android for over ten years lol.

Thanks.

Smart lol.

Android is not a bad OS per se. It’s simply not good 😂🫢

I made my boss actually give me a raise because he wants me to test an android version of our app by using a pixel for the rest of the month.

All I have to do is use the phone but I just can’t bring myself to use it as a daily driver so I’m giving it to my roommate and I’m paying him what I’d be getting paid extra to use it 🙃😬

Same thing with PCs — do I know my way around them? Sure. Do I enjoy using them — not at all. Also lack of size consistency in the status bar of an android phone I saw — gave my OCD ass a panic attack))

Beta 6 on 1Phone 14 Pro Max....draining super fast and hot. 100% to 58%. Anyway to see what it may be. Turned off 2nd time and waiting to cool off.

Ever since Volume Limit was replaced by Reduce Loud Sounds (which was like 3 or 4 years ago), the volume level of my non-apple headphones resets every time they connect to my iPhone, instead of remembering the volume I set it to.

I don’t care about any of these new features in iOS 18. I just want dumb old bugs to be fixed.
Hey there

These notifications and reducing of my headphone volume used to annoy the hell out of me when first introduced. I switched off the reducing of my headphones by doing this:

iPhone:
Settings > Sounds & Haptics > Headphone Safety > Reduce Loud Audio Switch to Off

Apple Watch:
Apple Watch App > Sounds & Haptics > Headphone Safety > Reduce Loud Sounds Switch to Off

I also turned off the notifications sent to advise of too much loud sound listening here:

iPhone:
Settings > Accessibility > Audio & Visual > Headphone Notifications Switch to Off

Apple Watch:
Apple Watch App > Accessibility > Headphone Notifications Switch to Off

I hope this helps. :)

Can someone please clarify what this part means?

Apple Intelligence includes new localized versions of English in the second 18.1 beta. Options include Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, India, and Singapore, which are in addition to the previous U.S., UK, and Australia localization options.

I couldn't figure it out. I changed my Siri language to English (New Zealand) and it disabled Apple Intelligence until I switched it back to English (US). Am I missing another setting somewhere?
Hey all

I think, this may relate to the Siri Responses language/accent. Whislt the iPhone Language & Region needs to be set to US as well as Siri Request Language, you can have Siri's responses in your local accent(s).

Edit:

Someone in another forum has stated this cannot b it as there has never ben a Siri NZ Local Accent setting so they may have gotten ahead of themselves a bit with that sentence then as cannot think what else it relates to as trying to set Region, iPhone Language, or Siri Language to anything other tan US deactivates AI Siri.

was anyone able to turn AI on in Germany?

It still says region is not supported. I switched language and region to US…
Hey there

Some reports are saying a US Apple ID is also required. Not 100% sure. Macrumors does have an article though which may help‽

Good thinking, but that can't be it, as we've never had (and still don't have) a New Zealand voice for Siri.

Firstly, that is disgraceful, NZ English accent is right up there as a contender of GOAT accents in my opinion. :)

I mean all they need to do is copy & paste the Australian voice and then change "sex" to "sux" (as in the number 6), and "meelk" to "mulk" for milk. I could probably do it in 30 minutes if they give me the keys.
