Don’t be inclined to install the ioS18 beta …
Typical Apple bs & lack of care .... there is no way I can downgrade to iOS 17 from iOS 18 public beta (sorry I wanted to take a peek now). iPhone 15 Pro Max [you'd think I'd paid enough to get a little professionalism from Apple].

Mac Sonoma keeps trying to install an update to phone, but fails every time;
Finder cannot reinstall iOS 17 backup & indicating that Find My needs to be disabled on the phone (which it is);
As per the recovery instructions provided here & elsewhere, the Phone refused to do this as well.

How to Downgrade From the iOS 18 Beta to iOS 17

If you installed iOS 18 Beta or iPadOS 18 Beta through Apple's Developer Program or Software Beta Program, you may decide you want to downgrade...

Well it is a beta ;)

In the few weeks I’ve been testing:

- I’d like the ability to add things like recently saved and videos to the carousel in the Photos app

- The color picker on the tinted icons still doesn’t have the full gamut of options. Most of the shades are not bright enough and look too muddy. Eg you cannot have brilliant white; it looks off-grey.

- The dark icons have a gradient to the background. They should be pure black.

- I’d like the option to have tinted white icons as well with a white background and mono colours.

Everything else has been ok. No hit to battery life on an iPhone 13. The customisable control center is largely pointless at this point because there are no 3rd party options yet.

Downloaded the Beta 4 for my iPhone 14 Pro Max and so far the only issues/bugs I've noticed is that when the phone wakes up, the brightness goes all the way down to 0% and also, it sometimes takes a second or two for the screen to turn on upon waking up. All the emojis got reset to their default color as well. 🥴
I'm getting this too. Can't see ****

Try rebooting your phone, that seems to have fixed the brightness bug on my end

Edit: Aaaand its back

No RCS in Sweden. ( Probably in EU either.) iPhone mirroring doesn't work, Apple Intelligence won't come until 2025...May be Apple is waiting for new fines from EU.
Not happy about it either.

They’re being extra careful. Or just retaliating.

Haha, am I the only one excited about new CarPlay wallpaper??

I usually wait until August to begin with the Public Beta. That's still my plan this year.

Which of the 4 different login UIs does Apple use for the hidden folder and does it support autofill.

15ProMax battery life takes a bit of a hit. Every once in a while, clicking on an icon inside and app, say Insta, you get no response when tapping the messages icon, same in FaceBook. Speed excellent. IOS 18 Beta 4

I got to try satellite texting yesterday and it is such a cool feature to have. I am sure it was already active but was surprised it popped up and prompted me to use satellite

To the person who couldn't go back to 17 ...

- Turn off Find My

- DFU mode

- Recover (via Finder) the iOS 17.x version you were on when you took a saved/archived backup prior to upgrading to iOS 18

- Restore the saved iOS 17 backup

This is why I think Apple should once again restrict the betas to developers... it's in the hands of too many people
Non developer here I enjoy getting early access to the new features often times ones that have been requested for years. Won’t hear me calling Apple unprofessional. A beta is a beta bugs and issues will persist. Installed at my own risk. I usually wait until the 2nd or 3rd beta though after major issues ala the screen time bug are worked out. First big issue I’ve seen in the last several years of doing betas.

This article says under: Control Center

There's a new Control Center toggle for Bluetooth, but it is not yet working. Apple also added a Silent Mode/Mute toggle and an Accessibility Eye Mirroring option.

Did Apple really add the Silent Mode/Mute toggle? If it was added I cannot see it on my iPhone 12 Pro.

These betas have been the worst I've seen for crashing/memory leaks. And I've been toying with betas forever.

Edit: The crashes continue on my phone. *sigh* Guess I'll test my iPad when I get home.

No, because the more "idiots" get their hands on the beta (like me), the more you find interesting issues in the beta that a developer/tester might not run into.

Brightness issues persist with my 14 Pro as well. Hard rebooted twice, still the same. Very annoying can’t see anything!!!

They broke frequently used emojis on the keyboard. Mine are all reset to some default ordering and using emojis does not move them to frequently used…

Very true, but only when you actually report the issues and are mature enough to not have a go at them and liking defects to unprofessionalism and shout your mouth about it on forums. Then yes, absolutely useful and we appreciate your assistance :) 👍
