maybe one day in a decade or two we'll get a real system wide graphic EQ (no presets) and it will remember settings for each Bluetooth audio device... then the ios audio subsystem will move from 90s ipod tech to at least early 2000s. LOL... come on, apple please do it!
Nah, EQ is so macOS. iOS can’t have that. Instead, macOS should remove support for EQ altogether - Apple executive.

A purpose-built app to view and mark up files instead of manage them. Files that can be opened in Preview now open in the Preview app.
At the very least, the name doesn't make sense. I know it comes from macOS (which I don't use), but "previewing" is something you'd want to do on a file anywhere (i.e. as a context-menu action, if not simply by opening it). The name also doesn't at all suggest modifying (marking up) files.

I believe the reason for this change is to more closely align the workflow to that of macOS. Unification is the theme of this year’s updates, after all.
For aligning iOS and macOS, it would make more sense to rename Finder to Files (there's a reason why they didn't call it Finder on iOS), and to make whatever Preview does just an integrated feature of file handling, rather than a separate app. In other words, make things make more sense, instead of adopting not-quite-sensical macOS idiosyncracies on iOS.

Enough with the new features already! Fix all the longstanding bugs.

Tim Cook knows that talking about new features equals more profits, so that’s why we may never see a Snow Leopard-like version of iOS. Cook has no shame, and thus doesn’t care about sacrificing user-friendliness if it means maximizing profits for shareholders.

Beta 6 has been great in the ~8 hours of use so far…

The animations are seriously awesome. Last time they were changed was iOS 11 and ever since then everyone complained about how slow it made the OS feel.

Overall, iOS 26 has been the most stable beta in a long time. Yes with lag, overheating and poor battery life, but those are all normal. Outside of these, things have been fixed and everything has been functional. New and existing features have actually worked. Even better when you realize that for the first time in years, everyone complained announced feature was included day one.

Very happy to see this and I’m looking very forward to the succeeding iOS 26 updates.

Also, I love the new toggles. I guess I’m the only one. Alas, different strokes for different folks.

The x.6 updates are the Snow Leopard updates, then new bugs appear with the next x.0 release and the cycle starts anew

Customers are just cannon fodders and can be easily discarded as long as shareholders are happy. Modern Apple in a nutshell. Not to say appeasing shareholders weren’t their goal in the past but nowadays it gears much more towards abandoning customers to make shareholders more happy. Literally only thing Apple care about customers is how many people still buying and using their devices and services. Plummeting sales is the ONLY moment Apple will listen to customers for once.

AS SENT TO APPLE VIA FEEDBACK: I can't tell you how many thousands of times I've accidentally switched from photo to video or something else when just trying to change the focal length. It's always been incredibly easy to do. The new version is slightly better, but still very easy to accidentally switch to video from photo.

Always thought it crazy that you cannot lock the camera in the mode you want.

PLEASE consider the ability to lock photo in photo mode, and video in video mode.

Integrating preview on macOS like on iOS would be awful. If I have a finder window open with multiple documents, I don’t want to right-click -> open in new window every time I want to open a different one in parallel. Having it as separate application is appropriate on macOS.

While preview would be useful for the same reason on iPad using the new windowed mode, I can see putting an option in settings to allow files to be previewed in the files app for those who use the iPad in full screen most of the time.

You can go back to the old way on the iPhone and iPad.
Press and hold on the file, click “Open With…” and select “Preview with Quick Look”.
This reverts it back to the old iOS 18 behavior of opening everything in Files.

But everything in Preview I can already do in Files. And it appears that everything I can do in Files I can also do in Preview. So why are they separate apps?
If you don’t like it, you can revert to the previous iOS 18 behavior by pressing and holding on a file and changing what it opens with.
Personally, I prefer the new behavior, would rather the files app not become completely useless just because I opened something.

Incidentally, Quick Look is also available in finder on Mac.

In that case I suppose it makes sense on iPad, but still not on iPhone where you can only have one app open anyway.

I’m so disappointed by this Liquid Glass new revolutionary paradigm.. had big expectations when they announced a major upgrade was in progress, since I was expecting some improved basic functionality:

- iOS keyboard correction is REALLY bad and still lacking a persistent “select all” feature when selecting text (I always have to do tapping acrobatics for adjusting the selection area.. WTF!);
- why can’t I see at first glance from my home screen if the Bluetooth is ON and/or connected (This si important for who use BT a lot and share those devices with others.. who is in charge of the UX/UI and decided we have to tap so many times for some basic functionality);
- the drag ang drop of app icons on the phone screen is mind boggling and perverted.. no one talks about it, am I alone frustrated and disgusted?
- why when using the gesture to see the currently open apps not showing the doc?
- and why limiting the doc to 4 icons??? I’m not asking for 10 icons but using a Pro Max device I deserve to at least having 5 or 6 in a row if I like so.

This upgrade is all about the eye candy, which is hugely disappointing.
And unfortunately Android is not an option since I don’t the product of an advertising company. I’m so sick of this duopoly, but also so disappointing to see a trillion dollar company like Apple not getting things right at all in the name of “”transparency””.

Those new animations for opening apps go really hard on a 60hz display in 2025 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻

You’ve probably already noticed it, but the system adjusts the effect based on the content underneath in an attempt to optimize legibility. It does this by some combination of adjusting the opacity of the gradient, inverting its color, and inverting the colors of the glass views themselves.
Yup. But the downside of that approach is that we're getting inconsistent interface appearances--now you never know what look to expect from screen to screen, which is a bad human interface.

What is the purpose of the Preview app? It's just a carbon copy of the Files app, there's literally nothing different about it other than the weird backsplash that looks like a rendering error.
And Books is still a better repository for PDF files anyway!
