So looking at the patent applications that were published today, the calendar app is set to 7/15 or July 15th. Looking at past iPhone history, this date has now relevance and nothing has ever been announced on these days. As a result, I would argue that the 3rd Gen. iPhone will be released to the public on July 15th. This would give Apple 1 month and 7 days from the introduction of it (at WWDC keynote, June 8th). Plenty of time for it to hit the FCC and fully ramp up in production and promotion periods. Thoughts anyone?

Apple doesn't need time with the FCC. Last year everything was approved before they announced the iPhone 3G but didn't show up on the FCC's site until after the announcement.

2. July 15th is not a Friday.

Have both been released on Fridays?

I'm probably completely off here BTW, just thought I'd throw it out there. Also, July 15th might have been the first planned release or one of them.
