True, but they didn’t actually say how long they played either. I wouldn’t expect much better than what they claimed on the Apple website for the 4.

You are actually right. I thought they used it hardcore but come to think about it, they didn't mention how long the phone was used. That 38 hours is EXTREMELY inaccurate.

Are you sure? I only have a 3G so I guess I wouldn't know but seems like a feature that could be given to 3G users also.

Where is the setting to enable it?

3g sucks! I NEED that feature, I'm tired of getting a dead battery ALL THE TIME with hardly a warning! LOL

How is it inaccurate? They said they used it like they would on a normal basis, like a normal person would. Some of basically everything, all mixed together. That 38 hours is pretty impressive.

What does that mean? Do they know how I, you, or other uses their phones? Because I surely don't. Without having stating how long or what they've used it for is useless.

I'm expecting it to set a new standard for mobile phone battery life. Similar to what they've done with the iPad.

Actually if it's any better at all than my 3GS I'll be happy enough.

You actually can get the percentage while being on official firmware but it does require to be jailbroken for like 2 seconds. You jailbreak, enable the percentage, backup your phone in iTunes, restore, then restore the backup onto the phone and you have the percentage on official firmware. I did this with my iPod touch 2G and I love this feature.

You won't be able to turn it off once you do it, unless you restore, but I don't see why you would want to.

USAToday's reviewer had different results:

Pounding it pretty hard, I still sometimes reached low-battery warnings late in the day, so having chargers where you work as well as where you live isn't a bad idea.

Just goes to show, it's hard to compare when people use their phones so differently, in possibly radically different communication locations.

These reviewers need to each come up with their own standard test suite, and always use it to check every phone they write about. At least that'd give a better comparison.

It could easily have been given to 3G users. There were lots of excuses why a year ago, but they’re lame. The claim that it is wildly inaccurate is ridiculous. I use this feature on my jailbroke 3G.

I agree.
That percentage for the battery along with the no homescreen walpaper for the 3G and how they didnt include MMS for the 2G doesnt make much sense.

They were tester/ reviewers

They have had the phone for the pure purpose of testing it for a review. I am sure they used it a lot as part of the review process, which would make the numbers very impressive!!

That's not necessary true. A lot of people are getting to pay to work 8 hours a day but actually only work 6. Can't also leave out that Engadget is biased.
