Still having this issue in iOS 17.3 on a 14 Pro… I only have this issue with YouTube in Safari and only with YouTube. I found a workaround, kinda. Works about 70-80% of the time. For me, the overheating only happens when my phone is locked. When I lock my phone, the media controls don’t show up about 90% of the time. I’ve noticed the overheating seems to start at that point. I have to unlock it and pause and play in the pip window.
Additional issue with YouTube in pip. The window also goes gray when I unlock my phone. I have to pause and play again for the video to show.
