I totally disagree with both standing points. Being wasteful or not taking advantage of existing return policy.

There are majority of people who know what they want in the first place and execute accordingly.
If somebody asks me whether it is right that people using the return policy. I will say this is within their right to practise in anyway as it seems fit.

Being wasteful? Yes, my time to deal with return the stuff and order things back and forth is totally wasteful to my time. But morally, I believe there is no argument to the case as in existence of return policy. Policy should not be there in the first place if they factor in the ethics/morality.

We can agree to disagree. But just try to think in a person’s shoes to go through the trouble wasting his time to do those things back and forth ordering and return. And needless to say, how much it will affect to his will power and confidence level in life.

Being indecisive weakens one’s mind substantially.

I'm also contemplating trading my 12 Pro for a 12 Pro Max. Luckily I have a Google Pixel 3A that I use for teaching. I'll just have to "slum it" in Android land for a week until the Max launch day.

I read somewhere, maybe on this site that said Samsung is providing screens for the Mini and Pro Max and LG provided them on the 6.1” models. I’d rather have a Samsung display so that’s enough reason to get the Pro Max.

Apple is a 2 trillion dollar company that will resell the returned phones for a profit still. Cry me a fiddle.

Of course I'm not a fan of returning anything unless it's defective because I worked retail. I've seen how this can affect prices/return policies in the long run.
I worked for AT&T in their retail stores for over 14 years and never once did I or any of my co-workers ever give a damn as to why a customer was return something. It didn't matter whether they were returning a simple accessory like a car charger or something like an iPhone. We didn't give a crap as to why they were returning it. Companies as huge as AT&T piss millions upon millions of dollars away each and every year on very stupid things. Therefore we gave two ***** less about customers returning stuff. As long they had a receipt, we'd pretty much return almost anything....

Exactly. I planned on selling my iPhone 11 Pro the day after my iPhone 12 Pro was supposed to be delivered. I then decided to advertise my 11 Pro the day before my 12 Pro came. Someone bought my 11 Pro two hours after I listed the phone on FaceBook marketplace. This meant I was going to be without a phone until my 12 Pro would come the next day. Me not having a phone isn't an option so I went to my Apple store and I bought a regular iPhone 11 just to use it for one day until my 12 Pro came. It came and I went to the Apple store to return the 11 I bought the day before. The Apple rep at the store didn't ask why I was returning the 11 and he didn't even look inside the box. So obviously he didn't care.......

So does this mean I should surrender myself to the moral police for buying something I clearly knew I'd be returning? Ummm yeah, let me go ahead and turn myself in. lol

I've done the P&L sheets, it can affect the prices. If done enough, it can lead to undesirable things like restocking fees and other dreadful policies.

Reactions: Never mind
It’s apple’s fault for not releasing them all at the same time.
How are we supposed to know how good something is without trying it?
it’s a completely different size this year
So people won’t know at all how it will be different. And with this pandemic
It’s much more difficult to try it in person.

Wait until the pro max is released then go to a store and see which one you like better.
That’s what I’m doing to compare all the models.

if I buy an iPhone, and I’m not happy with it, I can return it.
if I buy an iPhone to test it out, I can return it if I don’t like it.

theres no fraud here. Heck Apple employees have told me to buy an iphone To use, while mine is being repaired, and they’ll waive the restocking fee, if any.
folks here are ridiculous.

there are people far smarter than us that make their return policy, and factor in additional cost using statistical analysis based on the projected return rate. they always over estimate, since it’s better to over estimate costs, than under estimate.

LG is still a good company, is samsung that much better?

It’s not fraud. Your ignorant. Explain how it’s illegal fraud please mr prude

Making purchases with the intent of returning the product after a day is abusing the return policy that is meant for real customers. You know, those who are actually interested in keeping the device.

Sure. Totally in agreement.
I am however opposed to abusing return policies intended for real customers by people looking for a free rental.

If you purchase a phone with no intention of keeping it other than to use it for a short two week period then it is like going to an auto dealership and taking a car for a test drive with no intention of purchasing it so that you can use the car to run an errand and hand it back afterwards. If you were a car dealer and realised what the 'customers' intention was, would you let him take a car for a test drive?

I spend so much on Apple products if i decide something doesn't work for me ill exchange it. Im still 50/50 on keeping the 12 pro. i kinda wanted something smaller then the max but after getting used to the larger phones this 6.1 feels small. Also the battery life is not lasting me the entire day like the Max. Ill start the return process on the 5th and order the max. If I decide to keep the Pro based on the max reviews of the cams etc I'll return it unopened and keep the 12 pro.
