Well, I’ve been a proponent of the SE for a long time (I went from 6 down to SE,) but there’s one thing in my work that would be nice to do with a larger phone screen, so I bought an XR yesterday. I’m typing on it now, but this thing is going back today. At this large size, and nearly double the weight, it just isn’t practical for my freaking pants. I mean, I don’t wear skinny jeans, but my clothes are slim, and I can barely sit in my car with the XR in my pocket. No thanks.

I could get an XS, but it still feels big, so I can’t justify the price. I’d pay $1k right now for an SE sized phone with the newer, all-over screen design.
The xs feels exactly the same as the 6. If you didn’t mind that you wouldn’t mind the xs. An xr is basically a max width wise and thicker so it wouldn’t feel anything like an xs

I think the longer iPhone SE owners hold out, the more difficult it will become when it comes time to adapt. The phones on the market aren't getting smaller every year.

I dont think I've ever sat in the car with my phone in my pocket...and I've had a 6s for years

Well, I had a 6 and went to SE because I thought the 6 was too big, too, but I was hoping my opinion had changed. I put the XS through its paces at the store, and it didn’t feel noticeably smaller than the XR. Just a little smaller.

Well I think I’ll just ride it out, since the SE is still reasonably quick.

Really? Man, I almost never take my phone out of my pocket in the car, unless I need to charge it or look at a map. It’s probably why I’m constantly honking at people to go at green lights, since they’re always staring at their screen and don’t notice the light changed.

I feel it myself but just doesn't bother me.
Says white 4s. :)

Lol notice the sig!

I actually like the added weight. I always felt like I was about to drop the 6s and 8. The Xr fees sturdy.

But that’s obviously just my personal preference. If you prefer the 7. Return the Xr and save your money.

A few days just passed by with the new XR on my hands... great screen, amazing battery life, nice "all screen" design.... but

The weight, the thickness....is saying hello to me.

My iphone 7 it´s over the table waiting for his new owner but for some reason I didn't reset it yet... it feels so great in hands and pockets....

I can´t remember a time where a new iphone absolutely blow the old off, oh yes, the 6s over my 5s, I never looked back. But with the 7 plus and the XR I have the same feeling: "Oh this is great, but the old one is more comfortable"

Give us a 7/8 form factor with the XR design Apple, even with the notch... I know the X is near this, but not yet, a little smaller, a little lighter, come on... (and with no eye strain for me please!)

Well I had that feeling of “oh the new one feels so much better than the old one” when going from 7plus to X last year. I think this is the perfect size right now.

You must have a small phone. No way I can sit in a car with an 8 plus sitting my jean pocket.

And yea, they're going to have to do something about people staring into their phones when traffic is stopped.

I'd suggest ticketing them if in the driver seat and while driving, instant arrest. Movie theater, no tolerance, ejected, no refund if caught using. I'm tired of all of it. People are too stupid to understand that using the phone + certain apps (Social media being a prime example) releases dopamine in the brain. So this is really an addiction problem. Throw it up there with opioids because the LE I know state a big uptick in wrecks and fatalities due to driving while surfing the phone. It's absolutely terrible here. Lane swerving, sitting at green lights, driving slow and erratic, name it. I'd almost prefer them drunk driving.

Yeah, that was my point. I returned my new phone today, and I’m sticking with the SE, primarily because of how big the new phones are in my pocket. Drives me nuts.

And the people that have the phone on always for Uber and Lyft? It’s hard to regulate things like that unless it’s reallt obvious.

Steve knew that 3.5” is the right size. Everything else is an abomination.

I dug up my old 3GS the other day. The screen is microscopic!

Personally, I'm quite fine with the size and feel of my 8 Plus. Next year, if I upgrade, it will be to the successor of the Xs Max. The displays of smaller phones just seem too tiny to me now.

Yeah I never have anything in my pockets when I drive, including my wallet. Its just not comfortable at all. I also use my phone mainly for music while driving. The bluetooth quality sucks in my car so it's always wired. But way to generalize everyone "staring at the screen" while stopped. Not everyone uses their phone while driving even if its not in their pockets.

I always laugh at post like this (no offense) but Apple finally gives us a better battery and half complain that the phone is now “too heavy” and it’s even funnier to me when it’s males complaining, because you all are suppose to be the stronger species and technically you all have bigger hands, but the phone is too big and too heavy lol.

Users: stop making phones thinner and lighter! We want better battery life! A bigger screen would be great too!
Apple: Here you go! (Presents iPhone XR)
Users: This phone is too big! And too heavy! Our hands hurt!
Apple: (bangs head repeatedly against wall)

I also find it a bit heavy. I'm coming from a phone about the same size but it was way lighter than the XR. I'll get used to it. The bigger issue for me is that this phone is slightly wider with a case on, and it's a bit difficult to hold it comfortably when lying down. I considered a super thin case like the Totallee but decided against risking it.

That’s fair. I shouldn’t have implied that you did those things. I just mean generally.

I’m always concerned about the size of my phone/keys/wallet, because it would drive me nuts to have to take them out of my pocket all the time to sit down.
