ExoVault EXO5 Review

Why in gods name did they use wood on the side. They should have made the side strip metal so that it matches the phone's bezel.

Then it would have looked insanely classy.

Also, just want to make sure, the flash doesn't get obstructed by the design they used.

Actually, what I'm waiting for is for Apple to release the iPhone in 6 more colors, and then I'd just buy one of each to use a different one each day! :D Is that ok with you, dad? Since you seem to be the resident MacRumors financial advisor, and only post to tell others how their purchases and preferences are stupid or a "waste of money".

If they used metal on the sides, it would block A LOT more signal than it does, and may even make the case totally unusable. The wood on the sides is there because it's much more permeable to microwaves than aluminum/brass/insert your favorite metal. It's not much different than if they had left the sides open (which they do on a few models of their case), but allows there to be some material there.

Not a massive fan of this case, the wood sides look a little odd but thanks for the review. I think I will be going for a screen protector and a decent slip case for when its in my pocket.
Can't bring myself to use any other case as I love using the phone as it was out of the box, the design of it is ruined when in a case imo

a case that degrades an already bad signal (having to be opened to properly work), to me, is a waste of money.
 
maybe apple can beat all these metal casemakers to the punch and just offer a 150 dollar permanent airplane mode function.

If the money spent was a big deal to me, or even an amount worth second guessing the purchase, then, I might agree that something is a "waste of money". But until it becomes an amount that is significant, I'm not worried about it.

sounds like you're the perfect sucker for all these companies to dish their crappy overpriced products on then haha.

I think I'll invent the cement block iPhone case and sell you it. Basically, you send me your phone, I'll encase it in a gigantic block of cement. And then I'll send it back to you (you cover shipping obviously), all for the awesome price of 280 dollars. It'll go great with your collection.

That would be awesome! :D Please hurry with details on where I send payment! If you could sprinkle some diamond dust in it too, so it'll sparkle, I'd appreciate it. But...I might not be able to use that and my latest case at the same time. See...I've trained my pet unicorn to walk beside me at all times, and I just keep my iPhone tucked right inside it's ass. And as we all know, unicorns' asses are lined with velvet, so my phone is perfectly protected inside him. And it even wipes the screen smudges off as I pull it out each time! And as long as the phone is on vibrate, his horn will emit a gentle blue glow each time it rings. So, you see...I might not have to have your case afterall... :rolleyes:

?? Don't you keep up with the latest case news?? The unicorn extends the effectiveness of the iPhone's own antenna, and actually amplifies signal strength! In fact, the horn of a unicorn actually acts as a stand-alone cellular tower, so wherever I go, I have full reception! Unicorn cases FTW! :D

Yes. I wouldn't have bought the bargain basement one if I were you. Always go with top of the line. Or...at least as high as you can afford. But...maybe that useless one (as you stated) was the highest your budget allowed.

Apparently you do. But unlike you, I'm not stuck with my $150 purchase. I have plenty of cases to choose from (as you know from another thread I'm in that your derogatory comments are also in). And I'll have 4 more by the end of next week. So I'm ok with my purchases. :D But thanks for your concern over my purchases. I greatly appreciate it, but I manage fine without your input.
