Yep, unfortunately as Saudumm says the new beta still has audio drop out issues. I've also notice that it's not just video playback that's affected, I also get drop out in the menu sounds, can anyone else confirm?
It seems to happen across the whole system. I've had dropouts in menus and in Apple Music. I'll test Amazon Prime Video tonight.

Edit: Same problem with Amazon Video. So it's definitely a system-wide problem.

since beta 2 my album art cover is 'pulsating'...just like the sleep indicator on older unibody macbook's (the white LED light)

it happens with every song and i don't fancy it. :)
curious if it's a feature or a bug...

In case you haven’t already tried: disabling Dolby atmos in settings has solved a lot of my problems (some still remain but not as bad)

It's fine to ask whether anyone else has seen the same problem, but as a beta tester you should also feel obligated to report this to Apple. Whether anyone else sees similar problems is irrelevant.
I did report it. Just seeing if anyone else was seeing it too

It definitely happens to me on the YouTube app, so I'm pretty confident it isn't Netflix-specific. Oddly, when I have the audio output set to run through both HDMI and HomePod, when the audio cuts out via HDMI, the HomePod keeps playing (which is good, just since then it behaves like basically a backup speaker, heh).

Hoping this new beta fixes things!

Has anyone successfully played back their own 4K movies on the public beta?
The latest public beta will not play any of my own 4K movies in Computers app, only the iTunes Movies streaming.
1080p and lesser formats play as before. I am hoping this is just a bug and not an upcoming "feature".
Would be happy to hear your experiences with this (eg shoot your own 4K movie with iPhone, import it into iTunes and see if you can play it back over HomeSharing).
The whole machine seems to crash, white LED starts to blink and after some "thinking" together with loss of HDMI signal it just drops back onto main screen.

My issue is with previous tvOS beta and non beta if I turn off my tv using my receiver remote the
Apple TV wouldn’t turn off (which is what’s suppose to happen, as the Apple TV is my Homekit hub)

With tvOS beta 5 as soon I turn off the tv using the Receiver remote the Apple TV turns off along with the TV.

Anyone know of a fix?

I'm encountering the same behavior, but only on 4k video with HDR (be it HDR10 or Dolby Vision). 4k SDR content shared through iTunes Home Sharing appears to play just fine as far as I can tell in limited testing, but anything content that has HDR encoded into it crashes the device if its through Home Sharing; 4k HDR content from the store works just fine as well.

Thank you for reporting back. Now I know that it is a more widespread issue.
And you were correct - it is just the HDR clips that crash the tvOS, 4K SDR plays fine.
PS could you share your approach to HomeShare Dolby Vision clips? iTunes ingests them fine, but Computer app on tvOS ignores them completely.

After you mentioned that, I went back and looked and I don't actually think I have any Dolby Vision files in iTunes. I did some basic checking (its super difficult to easily determine if a file has HDR or not, be it HDR10 or Dolby Vision HDR), it looks like all mine are using HDR10 colorspace, not Dolby Vision. I recall having some that were once upon a time and they played just fine, but I've since removed them from that library.

Why is that?
I use the MediaInfo app for that and it is very clear about the HDR format being used.
Dolby Vision used on UHD bluray disc is a different story (has othrewise very uncommonly 2 separate video tracks, the DoVi enhancement track being 1920x1080 only), but it is not supported anywhere outside BD player anyway so irrelevant for other devices.
No-one has figured out how to transform them into single-stream format used by streaming services (includes aTV 4K) either.

I had found a post elsewhere mentioning MediaInfo, but it mentioned it wasn't super clear in the data so I assumed that was still the case. I've since downloaded it myself and realized that now, it actually straight up says HDR10 on applicable files!

I swear that at one point that I had a video working through Home Sharing with 4k and Dolby Vision; I may have to see if I can replicate that set up and see how it behaves or see if its my memory deceiving me.

Would be delighted to hear your experience with that.
I have tried, but Dolby Vision playback on aTV has so far been possible only from iTunes store.
Plex fails as well, Infuse asks for Pro license first.

I am currently running the public TVOS 12 beta released and I am experiencing one particular glitch and I am curious if anyone else has encountered this as well. While watching a Netflix show or movie, the screen will go black and show the spinning progress symbol on the screen. No matter how long I wait, it remains until I back out of what I am watching by pressing menu and resuming the show. Anyone had this issue?
Your title doesn’t match the forum nor the content of your question. Your issue is obviously with tvOS yet the title states “glitches with iOS 12”

And yet the numerous other posters understood the context and provided relevant, pertinent comments and feedback rather than off-topic complaints about the title... ;)

Just had the wife update to the new beta as of today and test again before I get home; same issue where 4k HDR video from iTunes HOme Sharing crashes the Apple TV. Really hoping this is something that will be fixed and not left as "be lucky it worked for as long as it did," since it far and away not a documented avenue for getting 4k HDR content to the device.

I tried with some HLG clips (like Sony alpha HDR demos from YouTube) - they do not crash the OS, but instead of a picture, I get a greenish screen of pixel noise. Just like the old days, without antenna :)

So, with my Apple TV set to Dolby Vision Output, it just crashes outright, but when I switch it to HDR, I too get a screen of greenish pixels for a flash before it crashes out.

Mine is set to SDR and automatic range matching.
BTW when playing back the HLG clip, in the drop-down HUD it correctly identifies both 4K and HDR tags!
So it basically has rendering problems with both HLG and PQ EOTFs.
