Z - First name's initial
M - Middle name's initial
Roach - Last name

pretty simple and easy to remember

cyco is pronounced psycho. celica stands for Toyota Celica, the first car I owned. I was 16 when I made it up, and MR is the last place I used it (thank god).

Don't remember ever replying to one of these, so what the heck:

My name is Marc, but although I've forgotten how my wife at some point started calling me Mako-chan (she's Japanese), and when I first started posting stuff... somewhere in the late 90s, I decided to stick the generic male name suffix -suke onto it to get Makosuke.

Pretty much stuck as a handle, and it's it's rarely taken unlike my given name (and I consider it a "real" enough name that I'm not being unnecessarily secretive). I used Mako a couple of times, but people frequently assumed it was a FFVII reference.

Hmm... now this is an interesting tale.

See, there was this big battle in the Markab sector between the Draconians and the Terran Federation's 7th Fleet, who's capital ship was the T.F.S. Endicor. Well, ok, originally it was the Searcher, but the T. Fed's Admiralty decided if they were going to commit a ship to a major war, which is certainly what they were going to get as a result of the Cylons joining forces with the Draconians, then damnit, the ship needed a name that was better-suited to the purpose. Or, well, actually less unsuited to the purpose. How or why they chose "Endicor" is one of those little things nobody outside the committee who decides such things will ever know. And it's probably better that way.

Anyhow, a number of the pilots from the Colonial battlestar Galactica, which had previously made contact with the Terran Federation, had been re-assigned to the Seventh, and were aboard Endicor, which was -- despite the name change -- still under the command of Admiral Ephram Asimov (yeah, a distant descendant of the famed science fiction writer), and so, having entered the Markab sector on what was supposed to be a relatively easy mission, they assisted in doing strike runs on several planet-, lunar-, or even asteroid-side bases. Unfortunately, some of the intelligence the T. Fed had been relying on wasn't all that accurate, so -- are you getting all this? because it might be somehow slightly related to my screen name -- during the course of their mission, they wound up getting...

Ok, alright, Mike's my first name, C is the first initial of my last name, and, well, I am The thing which I am. So, therefore, long story short, Mike = first name; The = the one and only; and C = first letter of last name, hence MikeTheC.

Simple and obvious, I know. But sometimes, life's like that.

Oh, and by the way...

I, Blue, do solemnly swear this is my real name. (Blue)

Ever read Piers Anthony? (I'm thinking about the Blue Adept, of course.)

Mine is pretty simple it's a shortened version of my name* + my birthday.

I say shortened version instead of nickname cause no one really calls me tammy.

I used to know a girl in high school who went by that name, but now she goes by her full name, Tamara. Last I checked, I think she still lives in Tampa.

iMacZealot:

The iMac was my favorite mac, and zealot is a cooler sounding word than any pedestrian synonyms.

The iMac is no longer my favorite Mac, however, and iMacZealot sometimes has fanboy connotations.

Back in middle school, my best friend was trying to think of a nickname for me while on the toilet. He was holding a snicker's bar and thought of my last name, Escuro. Escuro + Snicker's Bar -> Escobar. Over the years during online games people would just refer to me as esco, so it changed (although my gamertag on Xbox Live is still Escobar, and I get a lot of comments on being a drug lord)

Well, actually my name is Nikolay and I like football. There is a goal kipper in Greece team whose surname is Nikopolidis. I like it, so I pick up this name. :)
Most Greek name are fun. For example, Popadopulus! :D

There is a goal kipper...

;)

I know the chap you mean though, he looks a bit like George Clooney.

Most people think my nick comes from an Iain M. Banks novel (there's a robot character called E.H. Tersono), but they're wrong - I got it from the same place Banks did, but some years before... :D

Tersono is a region of the Batang Regency in Indonesia. I've been using it for many years (since my old BBS days in the eighties, in fact) and picked it simply because I liked the sound of it. (There was also the factor that several friends at the time were using obscure, vaguely oriental-sounding nicks, and I didn't want to be left out! ;) )

JesLam07

Jes = The first 3 letters of my first name
Lam = The first 3 letters of my last name
07 = 2007, which is the year I graduated high school.

I am a big fan of Friends, and i was watching that episode were Phoebe (spelling) sings that song Smelly Cat, i decided thats a good name but then after a little thought i decided to go with Crazy Cat instead.

Many many years ago (about 20!) I started using this name after seeing the film Short Circuit, and my last name is "Johnson" so made sense.

needless to say lots have followed now :(

My screenname used to be my call sign when I used to drive tanks in the army. Each platoon in a tank company was assigned a color: red, white, blue, green, and black. There are four tanks in each platoon, numbered 1-4. Then, each crewman had a military "letter" assigned according to his position on the tank: loader=lima, driver=delta, gunner=golf, and the tank commander was called 'actual'.

So, I was the driver of the 2nd tank in the green platoon. Hence, Green2Delta.
