Im a pilot and use the iPad in the cockpit to quickly view nedeed charts........oh, and to watch movies on layovers....

:)

I ditched my laptop for an iPad some months ago and never looked back. I'm in management and my folks are spread all over the country, so doing much of my work via email while on the road is par for the course anyway. I'm linked to our company's Exchange system. I use Notes frequently to take notes at meetings and distribute them quickly. Pretty much like other people responding.

I find the iPad is a great device for giving a new twist to the old PowerPoint routine. I recently had a sit down with my boss and turned over the IPad to him while he browsed through my Keynote presentation. Obviously this wouldn't work for the typical cast of dozens presentation, but this way we went at his pace. I like to think my well thought out presentation and control of the facts were the tipping point (ahem) but truthfully, there was a certain wow factor that no doubt helped. I've done this since in some one on ones with peers and folks who work for me and everyone likes the ability to flip back and forth. It makes for more a conversation than a presentation.

trade shows

I was at the LA Auto Show today and the iPads were everywhere!! Most companies were using them for info displays about the cars (with apps running demo stuff and the Home button was behind part of the mounted display) and all the people collecting visitor's info for brochures and signups were all using iPads for data collection. If there were computer, they were iMacs, but only spotted a few of those. (and only 1 PC in the whole show, that i saw anyways).

It was a crazy to see the iPad really working as such a professional tool.

I work in Local Government as an IT Admin.

I use my iPad for Email, docs and note-taking and for remote access to servers when I am out in the field.

I also use my iPhone for all of the things I mentioned, but the iPad is easier for notes and RDP, Email is kinda similar on both, until you have to write a really long one...
