Any new finds guys?
I'm trying to get another one, but he oyen digital model is now discontinued :(

Looking to buy just a thunderbolt fanless small enclosure for a 2.5 ssd.

Take a look here, and scroll down:

https://www.lacie.com/us/products/clearance/products/?id=10007

$109 for LaCie's 1TB Rugged HDD with Thunderbolt and and USB 3.

Swap in your own SSD. Quite easy to do.

There is also a 256GB SSD version listed as well as a few other Thunderbolt drives on clearance.

Or ... get the older one at MacMall for $80 and swap out the hard disk for a SSD.

just found this on amazon. Now the "cheap" TB-enclosures start showing :) 2*2.5"-drives. Could be enough for many.

I have two of these, which I have replaced with OWC's Thunderbay 4 mini. The Akitio Thunder Duo has a major flaw in it's design - the fan. 1. It's too small and doesn't cool drives down very much, and 2. The fan fails. I've had Akitio replace the fan on one of mine, and that was after being told how to acquire a replacement fan from Akitio by another user of the product on another web forum site, who has also had their fan die on them.
