I have gathered an 2230 NVMe and put it into an external enclosure, the drive with the ExFAT format, and while it goes into sleep mode on Windows and MacOS (after the 1 or 2 minutes I set on the case’s chipset firmware), on iPadOS it remains active the whole time.

This is a problem with this type of cases that rely on passive heat dissipation, because it becomes super hot and I can forget it plugged into the iPad and… well, the NVMe gets quite toasty.

Do you know if iPadOS 26.3 or even the latest 26.4 beta solves this? Is there any setting I should change to avoid this behavior and allow the external enclosure to go into sleep after a few minutes of not using it?

Thank you.

what external enclosure (brand/model)?
It is an aluminum external enclosure without a known brand, but the Logic Board has a JMicron JM583 chipset. The enclosure itself is just a piece of aluminum with the size for 2230 NVMe, so what matters here is the bridge chipset.
