This morning when I ordered my iPhone 12 pro, this promo was not offered yet, so I got the sim free phone for delivery on Friday. Was this promo just added?

I just spoke with an apple rep and asked if they could change my order to one with T-mobile sim, but they said if they did that, I won't get it by Friday, but they instead gave me a promo code that I can use with T-mobile to get the $150 credit and it is valid up to 30 days after I activate the new phone :)

I saw this deal after I successfully placed my order for a launch day delivery without an Apple trade-in (was going to send my iPhone 11 into Gazelle). Decided to cancel my original order and order again doing the trade-in with Apple. $350 for my iPhone 11 + $150 from T-mobile was too good of a deal to pass up. I can live with getting my iPhone 12 a week after launch day for the extra cash.

I am in the same position as you. I ordered SIM-Free before the promo was published. Apple Chat rep said I could cancel my order but it would delay by a few weeks, and then I got ghosted by them on chat after giving me the generic link to the promotions.t-mobile.com site but not providing the promo code itself. I got put back in the queue and am now 1 hour into waiting again. Can you please share the promo code either here or via DM? Thanks.

They put the offer up within the first hour of the phones going on sale. I had some issues with my order and it ended up getting wiped before I could complete it. When I went back to restart the order, I saw the promo. With the extra $150 I’m getting $600 back on an 11 Pro that I had already gotten a deal on last year. To my mind it was the best of all the launch carrier deals because it wasn’t tied to a set of specific payments.

That’s the one I thought it was, too. But getting an error when I enter it. Not sure if it doesn’t go active until the 23rd, maybe?

I spoke to an Apple rep because I placed my pre-order 5 minutes after it went live but before the announcement. They said the promo email will come to me AFTER I ship back my phone for trade in.

Has this already been removed? I don’t see it. Is a trade-in required?

Edit: Whoops, I found it! I could pay off my 11 Pro Max for $600 to get out of iUP then trade it in for a total of $650. Hmm. I’ll have to see how much more I could get in private sale.

Question: do you guys choose “prepare for carrier activation now” or “activate with your carrier later”?
I can’t proceed with “prepare for activation now” because “my account type isn’t supported on Apple.com.”

I’m wondering if activate later will make me eligible for the offer?
Does anyone know?

I never received a code but the offer was there when I ordered. I assumed maybe I wouldn’t get it until after I had the phone but that doesn’t appear to be the case?

I chose T-mobile as my carrier and then was prompted for my account information to verify my account with T-mobile. Unless I'm mistaken, you have to do that if you select one of the carriers - the only way to avoid that is SIM free and activate with a carrier later. The offer terms on Apple's website has the following question:

"How do I get the offer?
When you buy your new iPhone from Apple, choose T‑Mobile or Sprint as your carrier, trade in an iPhone 8 or newer, then activate with any T-Mobile/Sprint phone plan. Once your order is complete, you’ll get an email with next steps."

My reading of that is that if you didn't select T-mobile or Sprint when purchasing through Apple (and trade in an iPhone 8 or newer), you won't be eligible for the offer. I could be wrong, but I don't think I'd want to chance it by buying the SIM free model.

Edit: I also just saw this question on the same offer page:

"Which phone plans are eligible?
You can activate on any T-Mobile/Sprint phone plan. To be eligible for the offer, you will need to authorize activation when you buy your new iPhone from Apple."

I think that means you're out of luck if you don't authorize activation at the time of purchase.

The question I cut and pasted in my prior post says "Once your order is complete, you'll get an email with next steps." I guess the question is, when is the order complete? I think the earliest I would expect to see an email would be after the order ships, but I have a feeling it will be later - a poster above said an Apple rep told them after they send in their trade-in iPhone, they could expect to receive the e-mail. I guess we'll find out.

You guys are aware that the “extra” $150 from T-Mobile is via bill credits spread over 30 months of bills ? That’s what I read.

That’s incorrect. It says it right on the deal page that the $150 is in the form of a prepaid virtual card.

To see the full terms of the deal, go here: https://www.apple.com/shop/buy-iphone/iphone-12-pro. Then, click on "See offer details" under T-mobile/Sprint. This $150 offer is for a prepaid Mastercard.

If you go through T-mobile instead of Apple, there are deals to trade in that will get you 30 months worth of bill credits.
Paying full for the T-Mobile version and trading in an unlocked non T-Mobile wouod still qualify? None of our current iPhones are T-Mobile branded and were unlocked USA mode types. Cheers

I don't think it matters whether the iPhones you're trading in were locked to a specific carrier or unlocked - just has to be iPhone 8 or newer.

On paying in full vs. installments, one of the questions (about the Apple trade-in credits, not the $150 from T-mobile) on the offer page says "If you pay monthly, that value will be applied as an instant credit to lower your monthly payments. If you pay in full, your payment method will be credited after your trade-in is received." So, it looks like you can pay in full or with installments, but I think the key is you have to select T-mobile and authorize activation at the time of purchase with Apple - if you buy the SIM free version and then activate it later on T-mobile, I don't think that qualifies.

This exact scenario happened to me. Was working with a rep for thirty minutes and got ghosted. Waited a bit longer and I got another rep. They told me I’d have to cancel and place a new order. And that if I didn’t want to do that, I could go to an Apple Store to speak to someone about my options. I’ll try calling tomorrow.

I mean, I get first world problems and all. But $150x2 for my two preorders and trade ins. Had this promo been there at the start of the preorder it would have been taken advantage of.
