I want to update with another information.
I asked to move my purchased license to another mac since I sold the macbookpro that I registered when I bought coolbook. The author says that it isn't possible.
My question is why? I'paid for it once, why I should pay twice? I don't want another license but to use a program that I bought with another machine.
If I buy any mac os the licens says that I can use to only a commuter at the time but it doesn't say WICH!

Looking at the developers page he does make it pretty clear the licence is for one unique Mac only. However I agree that it is very restrictive and I would not buy the software in the first place.

i had EXACTLY the same problem, its a plain stupid licence considering that probably 80% of the users pirate the software, those 20% that pay for it (i purchased it) are screwed over when they upgrade their machine.

Say he would have charged 5$ for the licence transfer i'd have happily payed for it probably. Since i switched to a MBP that time around 3 years ago i found out that i don't nessesarily need CB for the stuff i do so i didn't bother with it anymore.

Its not about wrong or right, but people who PAY for the software should be able to use it on the one machine they currently own. While its still the buyers fault not having read the entire terms (who does), this licence constalation is very unique.

"one unique computer" does not suggest to me that the license is not transferable. Possibly the developer means to imply that by highlighting the word "unique". But why not just state that rather than use that awkward, redundant phrase?

Or better yet, why not stop annoying your customers and make the license transferrable like almost everyone else? Really, you're swimming upstream when you go against common expectations. And really what's the gain here? You may sell a few more licenses but then again you may very well sell a lot less.

I also think the single lisence isn't such a big deal. However, CoolBookController is getting more and more irrelevant, because it only works with C2D CPUs, not iX CPUs.
If you have anything newer than a 2009 MBP or a 2010 MBA, then CoolBookController is a waste of money.
It's really a shame that Intel made it impossible to undervolt the Sandy Bridge (and I assume the Ivy Bridge) CPU line, it is a very good feature - less heat and longer battery life is a win/win.

Correct but the point is that CB is probably the "unique" program that sold a license referred to a specific hardware. In my particular case I can sell my license to the new owner of my old mac...unreasonable! First becaus I used my email for registering program, second because I think it's illegal re-sell a program license. I think in the whole software universe the license is referred to the people who buy them nad not piece of hardware.

p.s. CB is the only program that is uncrackable for sure because in order to use it you ave to allow it to connect to a database where the mac serial is stored in reletionship with the email used for registration. (also simple to transfer the license to another mac...simply change the serial related with an email...supersimple!)

Yeah, that's what I was just going to say - it doesn't seem like it works with any of the new macbooks ... However, that said, this is a pretty restrictive license. I don't think I could give $ to a developer this greedy for cash. Being a software developer, I understand how programs and licenses work, and it's not difficult to provide users what they want.
