What is an uMBP?

It's what you get when Apple fails to choose specific, sensible model names for their laptops.

Sometimes Apple can be quite ignorant.

Or perhaps they are conflicted, indecisive, or whatever their problem is that prevents them from choosing logical designations for their products, like every other company does.

all i can tell ya is that i'm kinda reliefed that i didn't go for a 2011.

decent gfx, fast'n'cool cpu, usb 3.0 .. will be happy for 2-4 years :D

That's like saying "I"m so glad I didin't get a 1984 Macintosh because the one in 2012 will be better". Of course it's going to be better/faster/cheaper in the future. That's how technology has always been. No one can really predict the future, just get that you need now.

But you can't put a retina screen on this.

Ever since I have iPhone 4s, the screen of my old iPhone 3G looks so pixelated. Even if the 3G has more memory, all I see is the pixelated screen.
Your getting a head of yourself, can't make that same comparison when the screen real estate is much larger on the laptops. I used a Retina MBP that I considered replacing my 15" which has the high-res antiglare option, and yeh you could notice some difference, but it wasn't night and day different like the 3GS --> 4/4S, I was honestly expecting it to be a huge difference and it wasn't. Plus the anti-glare still wins hands down in the glare department. Retina is still early too, going to be awhile before app's and other stuff take advantage of it, and for Apple to fix the current glitches. Too easy an cheap to upgrade my 15 with better ssd's and ram than Apples too.

Interested in seeing what they do with the 13. Or what happens next year, pry just pickup a new 13 Air to replace the 13" Pro.
