Well … Honor 90 ordered …
Let's hope it goes well, looking forward to hearing the results!

I read from @from reddit the_top_g that the Honor 90 has a low max brightness screen, and the 3840 hz PWM is activated at low brightness, so it's not an option to always enjoy that PWM (because you don't see the screen). But although he has to test, he commented that the Xiaomi 13t Pro has a higher maximum brightness, and the 2880 hz pwm is activated at "63% (+- 2) and below" , so you could enjoy it better.

I leave you the link because he explains it better 😂

I could have bought a brand new Xiaomi 13 (DC Dimming) yesterday for €490 with a 3-year warranty but in the end I didn't, I'm sticking with my Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 (LCD). If it breaks, I'll see what I'll do, but it will still last me at least another year. It seems that Chinese brands are the only ones who care about our problems, let's see if the situation improves in a few years.

Yeah, very curious myself.

I’ve seen in reviews that the settings have two dimming settings. One is called Dynamic Dimming, the other Ultra High something something Dimming. I’m not sure if the Ultra setting was activated in that instance.

In any case, I will report back. Here’s hoping it ships. I would have had it already, had the previous order not not succeeded.

I looked at the Xiaomi 13 as well, but it was more expensive, and I am interested in the highest PWM Hz screen and the TÜV certification.

Today I went to the store to check the iPhone 15 plus based on the results I saw here. But after 5 mins I already felt a light headache using the phone with 80% brightness. The pro max didn’t give me this feeling. I’m still waiting for the 15 pro I order. Maybe I will also try to order the pro max based on the results from PWM men

Today I went to the store, tried to read as long as possible from each screen, I will describe my experience, which is certainly extremely subjective.

15pro/max absolutely equally caused effects of something like dizziness in less than a minute. Both with a screen refresh rate of 60 and 120 hz. It’s hard to describe the effect, but for me personally there is absolutely no doubt about its presence and I’m not ready to use such a phone even for free.

Then I tried 15 plus and I read Wikipedia, as well as sites, with periodic changes in screen brightness, mostly about 55%, for a long time, 15-20 minutes with minimal pauses. I didn’t notice any effects, except perhaps a small and short-lived blurring effect, but I suspect this is because I deliberately held the phone closer than I could to be more likely to assess the impact of the screen, since the lighting in the store is very bright.

I tested the regular 15 minimally, it didn’t immediately cause any effects, but I’m not interested in it as a phone, between it and the plus I’ll choose the plus for myself.

I have read some very helpful posts here by user "from reddit the_top_g" that explain why the plus screen may feel easier on the eyes. I'd really like to try using it in real-world scenarios, but I won't be able to take advantage of the post-purchase return policy (unless it's a warranty issue), so I'm risking the potential of having to sell the phone and therefore the price difference. I'll think about whether I'm ready for this adventure.

Based on the experience described in this thread, it seems curious to me that different people perceive different types of flicker so very differently and someone among those sensitive to flicker finally found as their modern phone - iphone 15 pro (very happy for these buyers who use a smartphone with the most advanced technologies).
If someone who has doubts has the opportunity to go to the store and try to use it, read it, watch a video for at least a few minutes, it’s definitely worth it, at least to cut off the unsuitable models for this particular buyer.

It’s really interesting that people get different effects from these phones. Btw I turned the promotion display off on the pro phones. It also give me dizzy feeling

Two friends of mine also reported nausea to me on their iPhone 15 Pro Max.
But they kept it, and after about 7 days, the nausea was completely gone and they no longer have any symptoms.
Right from the start, I have no complaints with the iPhone 15 Pro Max, and no tired eyes either.
The iPhone 15 Plus immediately caused me problems and after 5 minutes I could no longer use it.
I'm all the more grateful that I had such a good experience with the iPhone 15 Pro Max and didn't have to send it back.

Haha I had the same with the 15 plus. I also played with the pro max for 10 min. Without pro motion. No issues. Based on your results I’m going to order one 🤓

How are you with other modern screens? I've had trouble with all the "modern" iPhones (I use a SE 2022 right now) but I haven't tried the 15 Pro Max. I also have trouble with what seems like many modern LCDs on laptops etc.

I had massive problems with all OLED iPhones except the iPhone 12 Pro, and now the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
I can't use OLED TVs either. Otherwise no problems with other displays.
I have a Samsung Mini LED TV, absolutely no problems. I use an Eizo EV2785 4k as the monitor on the Mini.
No problems with the monitor, it is of course very expensive, but it is designed for eye health.

Thanks. This is all so confusing. I've had massive problems with OLED iPhones as well. Can use some OLED TVs with no problem (or with certainly only minor discomfort at least compared to an OLED phone). New LCD monitors seems to all give me trouble as well as many screens in new cars (LCDs are a more "in the brain" type of dizziness nausea and a little less "strain" feeling than OLED phones. But then I have an OLED Apple Watch Series 6 that gives me no symptoms at all.

I haven't tried the 15 Pro Max so maybe I need to do that.

Go to Reddit and read the findings of notebookcheck on 15 pro max. To me the different findings confirm that we have also to face different screen suppliers issues :(

Keyboard jitters

Is this what alot of the guys are seeing

It also gets hotter than usual

Personally, I think it is still too early to speculate on microLED.

For instance with Mini-LED panels, there was a lot of hype that it'll be the next generation of LCDs panels. It turns out that it still shares the same flaws of OLED panels. Though they function completely differently from OLED panel. Instead of shutting down simultaneously, the R,G,B LEDs take turns to rotate their shut down time. This however causes it to constantly flash up to 11 different color palettes at around 6400 hertz.

A fantastic example is the Macbook Pro Mini-Led. This was observed to be below 11500 hertz at around 6400 hertz, tthat is way below the recommended threshold for chronic migraine sufferers.

As we can see. there are no black bandings like the typical PWM.

This however is very likely to create a serious discomfort for those that are extremely sensitive. That includes me, that gave me symptoms never experienced before from any OLED panel.
That's disappointing to see. I've been wondering if I should've gotten an M2 Pro instead of my M1 Air, but I guess I'm glad I didn't.

Also funny- "Mac does that" right when the screen is showing some awful flickering. Apple is so shameless.

Hi friend! Here an update from me this year :)

I tested the iPhone 15 first and it was not good. Gave me symptoms comparable to the 14 pro which was not good for me. Nausia, headache en balance issues.

Now i received the 15 pro max yesterday. It gave me no eyestrain but after 30 min of usage bad headache and nausia comparable to the 14 pro and pro max.

Up to the 15 pro :)

Are you gonna try the 15 Plus if the 15 pro doesn't work out?

As already written, I know it from friends, but it left after 7 days.
After that, my friends had no more complaints. Give the iPhone 15 Pro Max a few days.

Just an update: 15 Pro is still cooking my internal organs, however I tried turning off pro-motion in a vein attempt to see any changes, and it seems to improve symptoms albeit not completely, but there is a DEFINITE improvement over 120Hz Pro-Motion which is baffling as it's essentially just a frame rate change

It’s weird, pro motion doesn’t bother me much on the iPads but it does give me a weird motion sickness effect sometimes on the phones. It’s not as simple as a frame rate difference though because it frequently changes the frame rate depending on different factors as you use the phone.

But are your friends first time OLED users, what was their previous phone they used and did the change any setting on their 15pro such as frame rate?

Not exactly. It’s a VARIABLE frame rate which is likely what’s causing the motion sickness. The eyes can’t figure out what’s actually happening.
I bet if the display was 120hz all the time, continuously, the complaints of nausea while looking at the screen would go away.
The sounds correct to me. I certainly could not deal with the promotion on the pro models. Exaggerated nausea and motion sickness.

The discomfort is still there, just no where as pronounced, it’s still not a comfortable display to look at, but interesting that 60Hz changes the effects of PWM
