This is not a placebo. The screen protector below helps….. not by that much but it definitely contributes with all the other settings like double invert, RWP etc. I have almost fully switched to iPhone 16e. I only don’t like that it’s matte which is firm when scrolling but i can live with that.

Only seems to be available in the US.

So I’ve been experimenting with phones again lately.

I pushed, and pushed, and pushed to use a 15PM and make it work. Despite some good days a week or two in, I’d be lying to myself if I said it didn’t give me major headaches.

Also have a 17 Pro from work because it was my renewal period and I figured nothing to lose. I haven’t used that much because it’s sim locked and I need T-Mobile and Verizon so I plan on experimenting more with that later. But early signs were not good.

Then I tried an SE3. While that is better, it’s still not perfect.

Then back to the XR. So, so much better than the others.

Looking at my old SE2, the XR and SE3, the XR and SE2 look very similar. The SE3 is much warmer toned, but it’s also practically neon looking. The best example is the health icon. The heart is so bright on the SE3 but looks much more muted on the XR and SE2.

What is this?! Temporal dithering? It’s insane.
This was my experience too. The last phones that worked for me with no issues at all were SE 2020 and XR. 11 and SE 2022 are barely acceptable. Everything else has been unusable.

It’s like a ray of hope!
Do you use this protective glass with the LCD screen AQ7?

My testing never ends. I am stubborn despite the money i loose. Today I installed the LCD AQ7 incell offering (16e) from mobile sentrix. First good sign is that it doesn’t trigger me in the beginning of eye contact like others did. But as usual only time will tell so i ll update my thoughts in the next 2 days.
Is it possible to measure the indicators of this screen with Opple Light Master or other similar instruments?
I found from the previous replaced screens that, although they were LCD, their luminosity was erratic and appeared flashes on the graphics with a rather large amplitude, different from how OLED works, but still being somethingsimilar to them, which resulted in the same negative effects and inability to use them.
I will show in the following message.

Here you can compare the display of iPhone 11 and iPhone 15 Pro Max (replaced by LCD screen EK Incell).
As you can see from the graphs, the iPhone 15 Pro Max LCD screen uses a technology similar to PWM, despite the fact that the screen is LCD. There is a rather large amplitude (modulation depth), which leads to almost the same negative effects as OLED screens.
It appears that the control of the lighting control method is managed by the controller on the iPhone board.

Therefore, it is very curious whether any alternative screens can give similar indicators to the iPhone 11 and previous LCD models.

Alright Guys…. I got a 17 Pro Max that works for me.
I got a launch day iPhone 17 pro max, headaches/ soreness after 2 or days of usage.
I then tried a 17 air. Got sick immediately.
I waited another 2 weeks or so. Got this 17 Pro Max and no problems! I had a 15 Pro Max before that worked fine.. So if you have a 15 that works for you, I think you can find a 17 that will work for you. Just may take a few exchanges…

The 2-3 16 Pro Maxs I tried. Never worked for me.. I got my wife a 16 pro max this past February, and I noticed that whenever she showed me a video/etc. It didn’t bother me. All the other 16s I tried, I got sick before making out the setup menu

Nope I didn’t and it’s no point when even OG Oled of 16e feels more comfortable even than those LCD/OLED 3rd parties….at least to my experience.

Ok tell us if possible what screen panel you have from 3u tools.

To be honest, I would have expected so. When you change the display, does it also change the driver interface? If not the phone might just no ba capable of driving DC dimming … but i am not sure whether it works like that, does anybody know?

After 1 week with 17 Pro Max, I have decided I can keep it! I would say it is 95% good, not perfect but good enough. I have double invert, PWM and à privacy screen. I hope you guys can find a configuration that works for you.
On another side note though, while it is nice to have a modern phone with 5G and very good cameras, I was expecting much more of a wow effect compared to the 11. Just shows that the 11 is still a very good phone.

Can you check the screen manufacturer of your 17 pro max ?

I've basically given up on the 17 range. Tried everything. I've now been using the Honor Magic 7 Pro after trying several other android phones and found this is the most comfortable oled phone I have ever used. It took a bit of getting used to but Magic OS does have a few similarities with iOS such as the dynamic island which it has copied.

The big issue I have though is that everyone else in my family has iOS and we use Apple Calendar (and I can't get my wife to change to Google calendar). Does anyone know an app that enables me to sync the iOS calendar with Google calendar?

I received a feedback survey in my email from Apple today because I bought a 1TB 17 Pro. I used every opportunity to say get rid of display flicker in all forms.
they sent you a survey after you got the 17 pro because you bought it direct from Apple right?

I get all my devices from Apple authorised resellers and eBay so I never got survey prompts like that.

I tried the iPhone 17 Pro (Samsung G9N display) pretty extensively with the PWM toggle enabled and I get blurry vision from it when I use it. Most times only one eye though, mostly the right. It does fade away but every time I use it, it comes back. Does anybody else have the same issue? I am so sad that I can't just the phone without issues, it's a great device :(

Sure, how do I do that? When looking for it it recommended a Chinese app that is not available in the App Store.
You can do it right from the iPhone. Go to Settings, Accessibility, Touch, Turn on AssistiveTouch and choose Analytics for Single-Tap. Press the AssistiveTouch button on your screen and it will start gathering analytics. Once it’s done go to Privacy & Security, Analytics & Improvements, Analytics Data and you should see a file at the bottom beginning with sysdiagnose, click on it and save it to your Files. Go into the Files app and click on sysdiagnose, next ioreg, IODeviceTree, now search for raw-panel. It will give you a serial number for your iPhone’s panel but all you need is the first 3 letters to tell if you have a Samsung or LG.

It's a shame but stop using it, send it back and go to anything with eye comfort. Its not worth it.
