Loved faceID until I tried to unlock my phone while laying down... if you lay on your side or have a blanket covering your face... your SOOL.... this is particularly problematic, because I like to grab my phone in bed an take a quick look at my lock screen notifications and then set it down... and now I can’t even read my lock screen notification previews without my phone being unlocked, because it hides them.... hopefully I get use to some alternative methods.

But TouchID is much better for when you are just laying in bed and grab your phone to glance at or even unlock.

The good news is that your nosy significant other, is definitely not going to unlock your phone when your sleeping.

I’d try and redo the FaceID-Mine works great, even with part of my face covered

I never had an issue, I was using it in bed for a few hours and tested it out...

Try this, re-add your face in a very dark environment. Also, go very slow when going around the circle.

Exactly what I was afraid of. Whenever I asked about this people scoffed at or downvoted me like crazy.
Setting up my phone now and annoyed that I have to lift up the phone to unlock it rather than using it on the table.

Worked perfect last night for me in complete darkness whist lying in bed. I tried it multiple ways and it worked flawlessly every time. Had it over 24 hours now and FaceID has yet to fail in any circumstance.

I used my phone in bed today and everything worked fine. I was shocked when FaceID just worked when I was in the bed in the dark.

Same here. I can’t believe how well it works.

My experience with FaceID so far has been flawless. I’m not sure they need to improve anything for a second generation, unlike TouchID.

I'm sure they will refine the sensors for Face ID for different ambient lighting conditions, Face postures when laying down or in different positions. But for being a GEN one product for this new technology, I would say it's a strong start.

Work great for me last night. Have the X and a stand wireless charger in my night stand. Tapped the screen and it opened my notifications in a completely dark room.

I’m in bed right now. Works fine.

You have to have the phone vertical, but your face doesn’t have to be vertical for it to work.

You do, however, have to remove your head from beneath the covers!

Same here, no complaints so far, knock on wood X 3

Still setting it up and I must have done something wrong because even when standing with it on a table I have to look directly into the phone rather than being on a slight angle.
Is this normal?

Mine worked horizontal without a problem for me

It works fine if I am laying on my back... but I don’t lay on my back

I couldn’t get mine to work this morning at all. As I type it still isn’t working. Even when I got up it had issues. Then I just tried emoji and it said low light!?!? How is this possible if it uses ir?

It doesn't unlock in landscape orientation.
