Actually, I stated think, which translates into my belief, not a fact that applies to everyone. It's my theory of two generalizations based off my readings Over the past few weeks on the iPhone forum . And if anyone chooses to discuss mySub-points, "Stirring" the hornets nest is not my goal, civilized and cordial discussion is.
As long as you we're not referring to me then that is fine. The stirring the hornets nest was used to describe my input not yours.

For balance when looking at generalisations I think it's fair to say there are people who are overly defensive of Apple within these discussions too. In fact it's quite a presence in its own right. I don't think I've ever owned the perfect phone that is devoid of any improvement or constructive feedback? I certainly didn't meet a barrage of brand loyalists when I publicly complained that my Breville toaster often burns the second cycle of toast. Perhaps Breville are not effective enough in their marketing? :)

If I was referring to you, I would have directly quoted you and indicated my theory applies to you. But in my case, I just created two categories based off the two major divisions of opinions on here about face ID. Of course it's not fact, but I think those are two appropriate categories as it stands where some (Not all) users will generally side based off speculation and doubt, which is natural. But all together, some have some really level headed posts on here regarding Face ID, which all make sense in seven days.

Yeah I understood what you meant from your previous post. I'm a face ID sceptic I will openly admit, but I've given some good and deliberately absurd reasons based on this. I've also said I don't think face ID will be the only way to unlock the phone. I still stick the fingerprint reader will be there somewhere as it's still such a young feature in its own right.

what's to stop a snooping boyfriend/girlfriend from scanning your face with your phone while you sleep? absolutely nothing.

People said exactly the same thing about TouchID. "What's to stop my partner from touching the phone to my finger while I'm asleep?"

In both cases, I'd say the answer is being in a functional relationship.

Say you don't want someone unlocking your phone or making an applepay / touchid payment, at least with touchID said someone had to physically force your hand / finger onto the home button.

What is there to stop anyone from unlocking your phone / making payments if they can just pick up your phone and scan your face?

For me, it's more about stopping a prankster or a nosy friend or family member from unlocking it and looking through it. Or the TSA.

Just a simple scenario,

You get in an accident, you were just sending a quick text (naughty) and bam. During the interview with the police the officer picks up your iPhone X holding it up they ask is this your iPhone? You look at the phone unlocking it. Now the police can look through your unlocked phone. During this he determines you were texting issuing you the ticket.

That's your own fault for using your phone while driving, you should get arrested let alone a ticket. You have to look directly at the phone for it to unlock not just a glance, also these different made up events are so funny, it reminds me of before Touch ID came out and everyone was worried that your fingerprints could be stolen or someone might cut your finger off to steal your fingerprint.

No one is talking about cutting anything off or any other crazy scenario. If law enforcement holds up your phone then turns to you and asks "Is this your phone?" You've unlocked it. If face ID works as well as they have you believe then this is a real world scenario.

I'm just glad you have nothing to hide...

I didn't say you were I was using the whole Touch ID thing as an example of how people come up with these situations that are rarely if ever going to happen. I'm from the UK so I think our laws are different from that of the US, for a start the police couldn't go through your phone without permission or a warrant ,it's the same as them coming to your house you can deny access unless they have a warrent or a real suspicion that someone's life was in danger.

I dont have anything to hide, they are just doing their job in the first place so I don't see an issue, if someone has broken the law by driving and using thier phone (which could cost someone their life) then people deserve everything they get! The emergency services (at least in the U.K.) do a great job and they don't deserve to have their jobs made more difficult.

You obviously weren't paying attention  Apple said that you have to be looking at the screen and paying attention to the iPhone X, which means your eyes need to be open.

I think this would solve all your problems,
if you iPhone gets stolen, immediately poke your own eyes out.
