I saw this Facebook dark mode enabled on a Nokia 4.1 with IPS LCD display like 4 months ago. Fy Zuckerberg!

Wow... Took them literally YEARS to switch the colors to darker shades of grey. What a shame.
It's what happens to organizations that are too big. They lose development agility and velocity.

Finally, right AFTER I stopped using FB. Ok.....

To be completely accurate, I still have my account, but I don’t go on. The exception was to post my wedding photos since we couldn’t have family there (stupid COVID).

To stay on topic: Just looked, no dark mode.

Had dark mode on FB for about 5 months. I deleted it and now can see nothing on there, as if it were pitch black

I see a lot of people posting criticism of facebook for taking this long to implement this feature. What you have to realize is that the Facebook app is built using react-native which Facebook developed and open sourced. It’s likely we are seeing them implementing a feature for react-native to automatically generate dark mode assets for apps built with the platform. Which if your a developer will you’ll know that is not an easy task, but an amazing feature for a mobile platform to have. Regardless of how you feel about the company itself, the developers should still be commended for the work they do.

Is Facebook safe now? I deleted it from my iPhone a few years ago because it was considered a compromising app. I've heard Apple is Turning the screws down on it to protect user privacy. Does FB still aggressively exploit user data?

if it has taken them that long to learn how to code a simple background change then perhaps facebook engineers are not the evil geniuses we credit them with being, evil yes, but it’s not exactly complicated...
It's not that - they're all fully occupied with trying to find ways around all this annoying privacy stuff so they can carry on collecting data on you and selling it. Probably took all of 5 minutes to do it, but why would they devote resources to implementing it, if it doesn't add to revenue generation?

So why is it huge (and not so huge) companies like Facebook take so long to implement a simple but welcome feature? Are they taking their time deciding what colours to use? Is there some complicated coding process I'm not aware of? Is it because it won't make them any money? I don't get it.

They probably want to test it to see if dark mode changes any usage patterns (spending less time on Facebook, spending time on particular sections of Facebook etc) and modify their app accordingly to maximize engagement. When a single visual change can net you millions if not billions in profits or losses, you would want be as careful as you can with them.

A completely black screen would be the only thing dark enough for me to use Facebook.

As developers rush to implement Dark mode in their app, Apple is one step ahead of a constantly changing golf flag...

(I can't win at that.)

I had it in June then it disappeared back in August for a few weeks then came back. Going back to the white background was like staring at the sun. Glad I was chosen as one of the beta testers.

I deleted the app long long ago.. I use facebook on safari ios and boy is it ******.

- I have had dubble spacing when using spacebar on facebook for years.
- They change the ad and privacy setting more than I change underwear.
- Dark patterns have completely destroyed the option of going through ad settings in ANY easy way
- Feedback is often not working... have a feeling there is a limit to how much feedback you are allowed to give a day.
- Lately “hide all from” is not working for me also... i think they put a limit on how many you can hide a day?
- I used to report every ad i saw as spam ... now i can only report few a day?
- Annoying new “suggestions” that you can not remove

Could the incompetent tech giant just let the world know when it will have been rolled out to everyone? Are they even able to narrow it down to a specific year?
