Facebook captcha on Adium?

This facebook captcha keeps popping up asking me to verify my birthday, i put it in and nothing happens. Facebook never logs into Adium... it just tries to the whole time.


Anyone have an answer for this? I tried searching google and here and haven't seen it anywhere
 
I've been having the same problem. Hopefully Adium will patch it with the next update... and they patch it in 1.3.x, since my iBook won't run 1.4.
 
I had the same. Was trying to sign in from my mums house. Went home and didn't have the problem again

Dunno what caused it, but have been signed in all evening no problems

If that doesn't, you could try:

1. Quit Adium.
2. Move ~/Library/Application Support/Adium 2.0 and ~/Library/Preferences/com.adiumX.adiumX.plist to your desktop. (~ represents your user home folder.
3. Restart Adium. All of your settings will be reset. Re-add your Facebook account and see if the problem persists.
4. You can always restore the original settings, logs, and problems by copying the files back to their original locations, overwriting what Adium re-created there.
 
Deleting the account and re-adding did nothing for me. The suggestion above did nothing. Deleting cache (suggested at http://code.google.com/p/pidgin-facebookchat/issues/detail?id=509) did nothing.

This is on two separate machines, and both started doing it at the same time. It's been happening for several days now, but I could usually fix it by logging into Facebook with my web browser and going through their captcha. I don't normally have to do the captcha there (I actually never did until this started), but the failed attempts to login with Adium seem to trigger it. Anyway, doing that hasn't worked at all today either.
 
Here's what's worked for me so far knock on wood


I deleted the account on Adium... I changed my facebook password completely from facebook.com then created the account again on Adium using the new password


So far so good after a day and a half
 
It may not necessarily be Adium - mine had never done it before today - and when I went to Facebook to change my password there as suggested above, I realized the chat is down for maintenance, so perhaps that explains the problem with Adium connecting.

I've had issues with mine today as well. Of course I also changed my password this morning on FB, but I believe it was working fine when I changed the info on Adium. Yea FB chat is down for me too
 
Problem seems to be fixed in update released today nov 4th

I was having the same problem until I updated today to 1.38 (?) which was released on Nov 4.
 
Yeah, Adium 1.3.8 (November 4) and 1.4b14 (November 5) updated pidgin-facebook chat, which should hopefully sort out this problem, at least temporarily.
 
... until Facebook breaks the messy web messenger hack that Adium is forced to use in place of an official API. On the other hand, most other protocol support is similarly hacked together, since MSN and such want to encourage using the official client.
 
I had that annoying captcha problem as well.. bugged me for a couple of days. But the new update (1.3.8) fixes that for good.
