This Facebook and twitter stuff needs to be a selectable option in the settings menu. Neither interests me and I have to navigate around these useless icons.
It clutters the UI adds no substance for a lot of users. WTF is wrong with Apple these days?

It is selectable. You're even asked if you want to enable it.![]()
It is selectable in settings.... what exactly are you speaking of? The app icon? If so just move them to an empty page, not sure what your "anger" is all about.
Example is the share button in iOS and OSX. If there is a way to remove these icons I have not found it.

Got ya. Don't think that's an option.
Settings -> Notifications -> Share Widget -> Mark it off from Notification Center.
Voila!!
Not sure about OSX as I haven't updated to Mountain Lion yet![]()

Facebook is parasitic. I guess Apple included Facebook integration by popular demand, I just find the whole thing rather sad. I don't want to know what my friends are listening to or what they had for breakfast.
I don't have a problem with the integration as many users like this feature. I just don't like not having the option to disable via a setting. It could have easily been added to the respective settings menu for that service to turn or off the integration and remove/display the icons.
I still cannot get my facebook contacts out of my contacts list, even if I disable them in settings and uncheck the box in the contacts menu. Maybe they've been synced with iCloud? Oh well.
One thing I liked about Android was it had an option to only list contacts with phone numbers. About the only thing I really liked. Haha.
What icons are you talking about? The App Icon? or the 2 lines in the settings to enable integration?
Go check your iCloud contact via www.icloud.com online and see if the contacts have been synced over. It shouldn't but you can check.
