If your data has already been sold, and is out there what good does deleting your account do? There are people just deleting Facebook, but not Instagram or WhatsApp
Meanwhile no one seems to care about the data breach at the Equifax or the unreported breaches that are happening daily. Whatever "They" you believe in already has our information, one of them being Apple .
Obviously, by deleting you aren’t giving them any new information nor keeping them updated, not to mention sending a message and kicking them in the pants.
As far as Equifax goes, I’m sure a lot of people care, but what can the average person, at any given moment, from wherever they are, do about it? With Facebook people can immediately delete the app. I wish they didn’t own Instagram, as I’m struggling as to whether I want to delete it, but probably will.
No they didn’t. Read the article.

I really don't understand why anyone would put up with it. It should be relatively easy to delete Facebook. There are a least a dozen other social networks out there to tell people what to think.
Facebook is so large that it is literally an internet with the internet. I don't see how even the best intentioned overseers could secure a platform this large. I have deactivated then deleted my account but I did this mostly because of the toxic postings as mentioned above. I liken stopping Facebook to stopping smoking i.e. quitting a useless habit.
