Dislike is not hate. Dislike is a normal, necessary, and frequently constructive part of human interaction. I never understood why so many websites (including this one) decided that people's egos are apparently too fragile to handle a little disagreement.

For a example of dislike in action, take a look at Ars Technica. Comments downvoted into oblivion (hidden due to the ratio of downvotes) are almost without fail hateful, repeating a thoroughly debunked viewpoint, or just not actually responding to any relevant topics and don't add anything to the conversation. Their comment section is far better for the downvotes.
I was mostly talking about myself, where in most cases that I want to dislike it's because I hate :D

But I agree that forums with some sort of downvote systems are usually better

Should have added a  and

reaction too.

I could use a middle finger.

I would like the use the ‘Sad’ emoji right away in response to this.
I never new humans had so many states of emotion; 6 - wow (insert emoji).

They could have just put in the 5 from INSIDE OUT. Joy, Sadness, Disgust, Fear, and Anger...

They're really changing the world here...
Yes, because that was the intention. World change from adding more emojis. If you're going to hate on Facebook, do it without making things up.

This site was better with the old rating system.

I've been waiting for this as it has been very high on my list. Climate change, income inequality, ISIS, Facebook Likes. Not sure of the order.
Completely congruous items you're discussing here.

People still have Facebook accounts?
As of the fourth quarter of 2015, Facebook had 1.59 billion monthly active users.

Yes. Anymore questions?

Apparently. I've been Facebook free for a year now and absolutely love it.
Yep, I lost complete interest in it when they made you download the messages app. Deleted it off my phone and never looked back.

Not working in the iOS app for me. Tried what I was meant to do. Have the latest version.

Looks awful on the webpage, TMI

I'm super excited about this. It's a really great addition. I don't get all the Facebook hate. I understand the complaints, but just ignore them. It can be a great tool for connecting with people.
You may disagree with the complaints and/or be happy to use a service that you don't really like, but more likely, it would seem you don't actually understand the complaints.

Some of it is certainly cultural. For instance, your use of the word "hate" to describe complaints about Facebook. In almost all cases, "hate" is really not the right word for these sentiments, and all too easily sets up a straw-man that can be used to dismiss whole swaths of legitimate concerns. (i.e. "Haters gonna hate.")

Otherwise, most complaints are privacy-related, but this is really not the right place to get into that discussion.

Seems strange this hasn't happened sooner. It was always awkward 'liking' a post about bad news, etc.

(never mind)

Have you read as to why they don't do a dislike button? It has a lot to do with bullying, which is plentiful in the world.
You think that the lack of a dislike button prevents people from TYPING far FAR worse things? :/

Okay, this thread is dull and pointless, leaving now, have a nice week :)
