Facebook is going to lose to Google+ Unfortunately.

Can anyone from Facebook stand up to the evil empire?

Soon we will see a Google+ App done by this same developer.

With Google, unfinished means good enough to ship. Feature complete means ship ASAP. None of this delay, delay, delay from Facebook.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPod; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_5 like Mac OS X; es-es) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8L1 Safari/6533.18.5)

Something stinks here, and it's not apple or google ...

Facebook App is definitely needed on iPad. I use the App on my iPhone at least once a day. It is easy to give it a quick scan. When I want to do the same on my iPad, I use Flipbook. I rarely find myself going into the actual browser on my iPad, instead I use apps that pull and organize content for me. They seem to work better and faster than the browser.

Google + on the iPad would probably help Google get more traction.

i'm surprised to see so many people talking about Google+, i joined when it was still in beta a while ago and i havent used it since. no one i know uses it as far as i can tell and many people i asked to add me dont even know what i mean by "google +"

This to me demonstrates the failure of web and browsers on iPad.

I thought tablets were supposed to be amazing at media consumption. Yet I find my web browsing experience horrendously cumbersome on iPad compared to a laptop. IOS5 improves things with tabs but there is still something missing and Apps fill those holes in the user experience.

New features were being worked on.

Well from the looks of the recent F8 event that Facebook held, they were releasing new features that rendered his version of the app obsolete. Not everyone has full visibility into the workings of management and I'm sure Facebook wanted to keep a version of the app in case something forced them to release it sooner.

I like where Facebook is headed. They're doing a lot of interesting things and it's definitely changed my life for the better. I keep in much better touch with relatives in the UK and Canada. It's far more passive than picking up the phone and calling them. I like the idea that I can just look over at my cousin's kids' pictures and see her growing up. I like that I can just post someone a quick happy birthday message. I like that we can just keep tabs on each other for those times we forget how much we mean to each other so that when we have those realizations we're ready to just pick up again. I care a lot for my friends too. I like the idea that they know what would know what's interesting to me than any algorithm.

Right now, Facebook is my second favorite tech company besides Apple. Love 'em.

As a guess I would say Apple and FB are working on iOS integration, etc. and this guy wasn't in on that work.

Agree. I've been on Google + for a couple of months and it is gradually increasing in users. The problem is that it still requires invites.

Open for all users as of last week. Spread the word! :D

Not anymore, Google+ went public about a week ago

No it doesn't.

Google+ does not need invites. It became open last Monday.

I think we all get it now, Google+ is now open to the public and doesn't require an invite anymore.

Good move by the guy. If Facebook are like most companies, there will be egos involved, and those egos will want the app released ASAP to prove him wrong.

I agree. I've been in Google+ since the beginning and I actually prefer it to facebook, but it's not going to overtake facebook. My stream is pretty much dead because no one uses it anymore. It was good when it was exclusive cuz all the geeks thought they were part of some exclusive club, now it's just there.

I don't blame him, why would anyone want to work for Facebook?

Is that some kind of a joke? Facebook has consistently proved to be one of the best places to work in the industry.

Several companies making the top shot are:

Apple
Facebook
Google
...

It's not that the company is a social networking site that is used by kids or old people or mostly for useless stuff, it must be staffed by kids or unprofessional people.

Facebook employees a number of User Experience/Design experts, network security experts and has been doing really good in almost all ways.

Recently I went to the US for half a day at Apple, Microsoft, Google, Facebook. You wouldn't believe that Mark Z. himself was standing outside of Microsoft with a stall to employee MSc/Bachelor computer science/user experience graduates as there is a very high demand for computer engineers in the silicon valley. And another note, Mark Z. is a pretty humble guy. Seems to speak a lot and out of touch most times but definitely is a brilliant guy to talk to.

So...you moved to google to develop google+ app for ipad?

yeah, wish it will be delayed at launch as well.

Oh well, it is already available, my bad...Heck, Google+ is graveyard for facebookers. Man, why i sound so negative.?

Well that's unfortunate. Hopefully it's picked up again by another developer... But I treat my iPad like a computer. I use safari for a lot, much more than on iPhone. Apps aren't as necessary for the common website as they are on iPhone. While convenient sometimes, I think with iOS 5 tabbed browsing on iPad, more and more people will treat iPad this way. There will be less of a need for apps that only duplicate website functionality, due to a more efficient, desktop-esc browsing experience and that convieneice of apps simply to rearange a website for a mobile device, such as iPad, will go down. Having said that, an app couldn't have hurt, anyway, at least to provide an option for people.

Facebook is turning into myspace.

I'm seriously considering switching to google plus.

Everyone always says they're done with Facebook, yet nobody ever leaves. It's not like MySpace that was easy to ditch. Back when people left MySpace for Facebook in 2006, you could only have 8 photos on your myspace profile, there was no such thing as news feed or statuses. Therefore, by leaving, you only left behind 8 pictures and a year or two's worth of comments.

Now on Facebook, people have thousands of photos, thousands of messages, wall posts, status updates. It has documented our lives for the past 5 years and is the only platform that everyone actively uses.

I hate Facebook changes as much as the next guy, and I think that Google+ is a great looking platform, but will people ever "switch" to it? I don't know.

Child please sc*** FB!
Apple is in the best position to create one of the most fantastic social applications out there. Even better than that trashy a** junk MS has out.

Curious how much $$$ Google threw at him. With Facebook still pre-IPO with a near 100B valuation, he may have left lots of money on the table. Seems like money wasn't a prime consideration for him.

Good for him, I should have never gotten a Facebook account. Jobs but I have a job not really worried but FBI, CIA, private organizations will get you. Now you're trapped with no privacy whatsoever they'll never delete your photos of you or any information.

I'm not waiting for another delay date for the iPhone 5 over this I better not hear this within a few days from now. Seriously pick up the ***** pace I need a new phone already and I wan't the damn iPhone 5.

Facebook is used by 20% of the planet and when you consider the amount of poverty in the planet it is safe to say that 50% of the first world have a Facebook account, you are hardly going to find people in Sudan, Ethiopia, Honduras, Haiti, Rwanda, poor parts of India and China etc having Facebook so near enough half of the first world population have a Facebook account, 800m people at last count.

While Facebook is a complete pain in the arse in terms of its constant changes it is the eBay / Groupon of its sector, despite hundreds of clones totally untouchable and always will be.
