Wish they'd spend some time on the Facebook for iPhone app. They been spending all their time on the iPad app and neglected the iPhone side

Co-signed on this one. The iPhone app was horrible for the longest time and now it's just barely passable.

Sigh. Facebook...

Seems like just another example of Facebook dropping the ball. No surprise they had that guy leave.

When did Apple say it will integrate Facebool on iOS?

Between Nuance integration and Facebook it seems there are several features in iOS 5 that are not in the beta versions the developers have been testing.

Apple is keeping Facebook alive. Everyone is leaving Boringbook and using Twitter exclusively these days.

I really don't get from which source are these comments spawning from (except for the Nuance bit which brings a good question)

Meaning that: When did Apple factually announced any Facebook integration?? as far as I know they have only advertised for Twitter integration which you can see here: http://www.apple.com/ios/ios5/features.html#twitter

Nowhere there is a Facebook logo or even a mention, right?

After Facebook denied Apple access to its API for use in conjunction/log in for Ping it is my personal believe that Apple (SJ) are not precisely "keeping Facebook alive".

Of course I agree that all this can change anytime as this is a corporate game and alliances get made and get cancelled all the time but what pisses me off about a lot of people commenting on rumour websites lately is that they take what they read (or sometimes just stuff that they created in their imagination) and treat it as a fact and go as far as to bash and trash whatever they believe as if it was an official announcement, to all of them (you know who you are): THIS IS A RIMOUR SITE! Rumours by definition are NOT FACTS!

Have an opinion by all means but wait for the facts to complain miserably about something.

All I see here is like with every new version of iOS being launched some new apps are showcased to illustrate and promote the new features but to go as far as a Facebook integration??? I personally don't see it happening just yet (or ever), I like the fact that Twitter integration is there, It serves my needs, cause not only "women and kids" uses social networking, as a professional graphic artist I benefit vastly from these networks.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPod; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8J2 Safari/6533.18.5)

Mashable claims that Facebook is actually launching its long awaited iPad app at Apple's rumored October 4th media even where the company is believed to be launching iOS 5 and the iPhone 5.

Now then, why would anyone launch an iPad app at an launch for an iPhone?

Don't think to hard. :)

Kids and women will always be into these things and move from one to the next, most people will not be into any of them.

Have to laugh because you describe well over 50% of the world population with women and children, and then say that most people will not be into them.

Fact is, young adults of both sexes love social networking in whatever form and a majority have accounts across several of them. 30-40+ men are not in the majority. Even though I'm in that category, I used to not be - and was active on MySpace and Facebook not too long ago. Apple will do well to keep up with the latest and greatest in this space, even if you and I never touch it.

Facebook currently has somewhere in the neighborhood of 800+ million users. Those of you dismissing the app and integration so quickly are either misinformed or in denial.

You may not have a use for it, but many others do. Both Apple and Facebook would be missing out on huge segments of people if they continue the personal feud. It is time to get down to business and make it happen. Once you remove emotions and knee-jerk reactions from the equation, it is a solid business decision for both parties.

TOTALLY agree! Sorry to say, but some of you seems to be a bunch of old people. fB is according to me (and millions of others) the BEST sosical networking site ever. I use it DAILY and want it to be interg. in iOS. Don't bitch people.

Never seen the appeal of Facebook tbh really, I have an account but it is only so that my Australian relatives can keep in touch with me, and my South African based sister too.

My niece is 17 and she has a Facebook account with according to her on Sunday 1182 'friends', I asked her how many of those she knew in person and it was a grand total of SEVEN

Teenagers just seem to use Facebook as a willy waving contest about how many virtual friends they have, sad sad sad

Balmer was not invited to the dinner because it was for the heads of the top tech companies based in California.

Aah thanks didn't know that, explains why he wasn't there, I loved rubbing it in to my Windows fanboy friends that Ballmer wasn't invited but sounds like there was a legitimate reason

Marvellous. New Facebook app complete with dozens of bugs as usual from those people. Followed by loads of updates promising bug fixes which will actually leave the app worse with each update. iPhone app is ok and would much prefer if they would just leave it alone

LOL @ all the Facebook is dead comments, they said last week that 0.5bn individual users had used it in one day recently. I think there's a bit of life left in Facebook yet...

Can't say I'm holding out much hopes for the iPad app though, given that the iPhone one still has some really basic and obvious bugs in it. Very amateurish given the resources they must have!

Hey... I like facebook :( It's handy for posting pictures and keeping in contact. I'd love to see some facebook integration. Whats the use of Twitter?

Facebook?

I think google+ will work better, this facebook app is crashing all the time anyway.

Might that facebook will get pushed away just like that other social website.. what was it called... oh ye Myspace :p
