I really don't get from which source are these comments spawning from (except for the Nuance bit which brings a good question)

Meaning that: When did Apple factually announced any Facebook integration?? as far as I know they have only advertised for Twitter integration which you can see here: http://www.apple.com/ios/ios5/features.html#twitter

Nowhere there is a Facebook logo or even a mention, right?

After Facebook denied Apple access to its API for use in conjunction/log in for Ping it is my personal believe that Apple (SJ) are not precisely "keeping Facebook alive".

Of course I agree that all this can change anytime as this is a corporate game and alliances get made and get cancelled all the time but what pisses me off about a lot of people commenting on rumour websites lately is that they take what they read (or sometimes just stuff that they created in their imagination) and treat it as a fact and go as far as to bash and trash whatever they believe as if it was an official announcement, to all of them (you know who you are): THIS IS A RIMOUR SITE! Rumours by definition are NOT FACTS!

Have an opinion by all means but wait for the facts to complain miserably about something.

All I see here is like with every new version of iOS being launched some new apps are showcased to illustrate and promote the new features but to go as far as a Facebook integration??? I personally don't see it happening just yet (or ever), I like the fact that Twitter integration is there, It serves my needs, cause not only "women and kids" uses social networking, as a professional graphic artist I benefit vastly from these networks.

I don't believe I was bashing or trashing anything or complaining. Nor do I think I was asserting that the Facebook integration was indeed fact. I could have prefaced my comment with "assuming this rumor is true...." but then I could preface every single one of my comments with that since "this is a rumors site" as you pointed out. For the record, Apple has not announced the Nuance integration either. But if we are to believe these rumors are true, I was merely pointing out that it would mean two significant features of iOS 5 have NOT been included in the developer betas. This fact seems to indicate that these rumors are indeed less likely to be true -- which is what i was trying to indicate.

Apple has played some things close to the vest, but at least with the Nuance integration I could see that requiring the new iPhone hardware. The Facebook integration would seem to be something that they would have included for developer testing and not kept secret (if it were true). Given the differences between Apple's and Facebook's privacy policy, I don't see Facebook integration as terribly likely.

My comment was intended to cast some doubt on this rumor, but oddly enough you seemed to take it as an assertion of this rumor. Funny how inflection often gets lost in email and posts. I find it really strange that you called me out as a basher or complainer given the text of my original comment.

TOTALLY agree! Sorry to say, but some of you seems to be a bunch of old people. fB is according to me (and millions of others) the BEST sosical networking site ever. I use it DAILY and want it to be interg. in iOS. Don't bitch people.

I also fully agree with you both.

If you really believe any of them are any different (myspace, Facebook, twitter, google plus, etc etc), you're nuts. People will keep moving to the newest and coolest indefinitely, but there's no difference. My demographic has no use for it, so we're not on any of them. Kids and women will always be into these things and move from one to the next, most people will not be into any of them.

Math much? Women + Children = "most" so you're wrong before you even get to the particulars.

I liked when Facebook was centered on the personal profile. Ever since they made one's wall the focal point my interest waned to the point that I just got rid of my account.

I have to put in a vote for couldn't care less about the app and news, but I hope it's good for current users.

Before I cancelled my FB and twitter accounts, though, I had those plus my instagram account on Flipboard. That was an awesome app!

Facebook?

I think google+ will work better, this facebook app is crashing all the time anyway.

Might that facebook will get pushed away just like that other social website.. what was it called... oh ye Myspace :p

They are nothing like each other

MySpace was primarily for bands and singers to promote their stuff and for teenagers to show what music they were listening to, Facebook is for saying what you are eating and showing off the pics from the last drunken night out, it is like comparing apples and oranges

Facebook needs an App on the iPad. I know I will download and use one if they release it. But Apple better not make a big deal about it or Cook better be ready to hear some boos. Facebook is not well liked these days and I doubt that is going to change. Apple will not seem "cool" if they partner up with Facebook. I think a lot of us realize we are seeing Microsoft 2.0 being born in front of our eyes. And for the geeks the Facebook programming is terrible, just like Microsoft, which pisses us off. But will we have to use it? Yes, because I have 100s of friends on Facebook who are producing interesting content on it every day. So I regularly enjoy my visits to the site. I'm stuck with it, as a consumer of it, even though I myself have never posted much and would be inclined to post on Google+ with its circles if I did (oh and if I had more than 30 friends on Google+).

If an iPad app is being launched at an iPhone launch event is it possible that Apple will launch an iPad 3 at the same event ? seems bizarre to be launching iPad apps at an iPhone event.

If that's true this is a kick in the teeth for the guy who's just quit Facebook after developing the app.. could have taken all the credit at the Oct 4th event! But I'm sure Google are paying more money for him to care about this.

As it should be, I say good luck and make tons of money at Google:D

It would be a big deal if that App was actually intergrated into the new iOS 5 actually I love to see also google + also been part of the OS with some added features. Microsoft piss you off, not me made me plenty off money with that OS riddle with problems, I actually miss Micro$oft when it was a bad OS and made me plenty of spending money off users. Oh those where good days for me. Windows 7 for the most part is stable and does not give users to many problems so opportunity for larger payouts are not as common still plenty of ways to make tons of money fixing Microsoft user technical problems:D

I love you Microsoft your my wallets best friend. I hate you Apple your my wallet full of money worst enemy I can't stop buying your "just works" products but it is fun :p

Ipad 3 not going to happen so get the PROZAC ready.

Facebook on iPad would be nice but not a big deal. ;)

I think the OS suppliers, Apple and Microsoft, should hold back on Facebook integration because they may in the future want to integrate their own social media network into their OS. If turning on your computer required you to create an social network profile (basically your "User" profile beefed up), that would get everyone on board in at least some way.

But Ping was not a good start by Apple.

What demographic is that? Friendless virgins or pretentious..umm nm. It is always funny how certain people think they are above something. It almost always shows how little they understand about it.

So, what isthis magical demographic you are in?

It's not FaceBook that's changing, it's you. You are growing up and gaining sophistication. There will always be a place for FaceBook with the little kids.

Try Twitter I understand it's hot.

His and miss, your typos are so clever

You are confused in alot of ways. You and eye should both join Facebook and friend each other.

Remember guys, this is a rimour site.

Maybe we need urban dictionary integration.

To be honest I'm tired of all of them.

One compound word: spyware. That's my honest opinion of the facebook app – whatever version on whatever platform. It tracks you and tries to sell you stuff. Kind of like a door-to-door hound. I don't need it pissing on my porch so I use the webpage and try to keep that in control.

What are you talking about? How does the Facebook app try to sell you stuff? I've never once seen an ad on the iOS app, but I've seen plenty of them on the website.

I hope they don't jeopardize ios 5 with a flaky Facebook integration.

I too was so fed up by the crashes and when they decided who's comments I would see I deleted my account.

I'm hanging out for unthink who Stephen Fry seems to be supporting on Twitter- his twitter today was something like I hope Spotify doesn't align itself with the vile pathetic facebook..

http://www.unthink.com/

That may be true, but I just browsed a good article a friend of mine sent me. Now, I am not a FB fan, tbh it scares me in a way.

Just because 500MM people are jumping off bridges, does not warrant me following.

http://gizmodo.com/5844044/unlike-why-facebook-integration-is-actually-antisocial

No ones forcing anyone to use facebook. I dont use it much myself, and find the design of the interface pretty unintuitive.

I was just pointing out the people claiming hardly anyone uses it are completely wrong.

Facebook don't use it anymore never really did..it's just another myspace..never was really into that networking..I just tweet

Wow - that's one of the saddest things I've ever heard: "I'm not interested in other people at all - I only want to broadcast my very important 140-character-or-less thoughts to the world."

Personally, I use Facebook to keep up with my friends and family, share photos, etc. I have ~200 "Friends" on Facebook, know all of them personally and keep up daily with about 20. *I* don't see the point of Twitter - really, who is interested in these "deep thoughts"?

I hope they didn't update the facebook app to look like the new facebook updates.

On the bright side, thanks to the new facebook updates I'm using facebook a whole lot less :D

Men over like 25. I don't know any on FaceBook. I fully understand Facebook. I had one in college when it was only a few colleges. Then I grew up. Now, I Don't care about seeing pictures of your baby when I don't even see you regularly or rehashing stories about our tenth grade art class.

Facebook iPad App to Launch at iOS 5 and iPhone 5 Event?

I've also seen the commercial in Facebook, I was so excited and can't believe the amazing features, but I know that's not the official commercial for iPhone 5  But I'm still gonna wait for it.

Facebook is still "the social networking site". Most of the people at school use Facebook exclusively, some (usually girls) use Twitter and Tumblr along with Facebook, about 3 use Google+ along with Facebook. And that's even after people bitching each time Facebook changes.
