Nothing new.

Facebook doesn't like Google. They see them as a competitor. This is why there wasn't an API or official facebook client for Android for an entire year after Android came out.

The difference between facebook and google is that when the social network trend dies back down (and all trends lose popularity), Google will still be around with search, mail, chat, phone, android, etc, etc, etc

Facebook is better at copying existing services (myspace, twitter, foursquare, etc) than innovating. The company will eventually sell itself out to commercial interests and people will stop using it as much.

I already get as many updates from my 'likes' as my 'friends' on there. Its a bit annoying.

The fact is - who cares?
My opinion is that it's ridiculous for people here to constantly post threads about other phones or OSs in an effort to make themselves feel better about their phone.

Why the insecurity? Why the need to "bully" other phones.

If you don't like Android - don't buy one. But the constant taunting is old.

I don't think this thread is taunting anyone at all. Mobile apps are an important emerging technology that most users of this forum are embracing. Discussion of alternative platforms based on reputable developer feedback I think rightly deserves a topic. If I were to read this thread and it was talking about how Andriod app development was much more advanced and had great tools I would certainly start looking into developing for both platforms rather than just the iPhone.

So, to answer your question of who cares? I do, a regular reader of this forum. ty for the concern. Now go back to policing the forum.

This thread could be an exception. But it comes in a long line of threads the past few weeks of people posting random threads bashing any phone that isn't the iPhone. I find that immature and annoying. It's not a question of policing the forum - it's a question of asking what makes a person want to do that. What purpose does it serve.

It's very valid to have the discussion about creating apps on different platforms. Guess what - there's a forum for that here. In fact - there's an app forum. There's also a general topics forum. Could this thread be more appropriate elsewhere on this site? People post on this particular forum because it's the most read vs the other related forums (i.e. apps, accessories, etc). That doesn't mean it's the right place for it.

So to that extent - perhaps I'm "policing" - but I never suggested that the thread not be posted here. I simply asked - who really cares. And then I asked why do they care.

Thanks for your input.

Six yr olds will get such a kick out of the "cute graphic".... Only on an Apple forum is Sesame Street material so well loved.

Well, you've got over 1000 posts on this forum in less than a year, so I suppose we should presume that you are a big Sesame Street watcher.

In fact it's the simplicity and cute appeal of the demure little iPhone 4 that appeals to little kids as well.

And those little kids' college-bound siblings, and their mothers, and their dads, and their mom/dad's bosses, etc., etc. I somehow doubt that the tens of millions of iPhones have all been sold to children. But you already knew that and were just being deliberately obtuse, right? Surely you're not as ignorant as you portray yourself in posts like this.

Never knew phones had feelings...

I just posted an article word for word. I'm not trying to bully anyone and hope we can be friends. :D
