Nice to see. If they're making this change, it's based on thousands of tests to see what users respond the best too. Facebook tests the living heck out of every change they make. Argue all you like but they have PILES of data to backup these changes after testing them on millions of users. That data shows an increase in usage and engagement. Only then do they make any change across the board for their users.

Something about Facebook? MacRumors members will go on and on telling you how awesome they are because they got rid of it years ago. They're the one uniformed friend where all their other friends can connect and know what's happening with the others. The guy with the flip phone in 2018.
Problem is Facebook's tests view a change as positive if it means more user time spent in the app, which isn't really what users want. They want to show ads, we want to send messages and close it. I've got no problem with Facebook's services, but there has been lots of bloat creeping into their interfaces.

Perhaps not for those that might use the Messenger app to communicate with some people but don't care about Facebook itself.

I don't even use the main FB app, but I use FB Messenger everyday for group chats with friends. As much as I used to hate having two FB apps installed, I like that I can have Messenger installed and not the main app.

Indeed... Waking up at 6 am and being blasted by this amount of White is insanity

im not quite sure where the sudden obsession with empty bright white space came from with all these apps, but ive managed to tame the impact by setting an accessibility shortcut for "reduce white point" which coupled with turning off the brightness really really helps.

It's been like that for quite some time across many apps and even OS's.
