A typical example of all that’s wrong with computing. Being forced to use the sucky new design all because the company thinks they know what’s good for you. Why do you seek to confuse people, especially older people? You do realize that your new design will suck more, right? Most people who ’design’ webpages or app UI are clueless and if they get lucky with said app/webpage then it’s not usually due to that but some feature.

Do. Not. Change. The. User. Interface.

How hard is this to not follow?

I use FB primarily for groups; I rarely post individual posts on my own wall. The new design is *awful* for groups; they are not clearly listed out on the left like they are in classic mode and I have to scroll to find any of them. And I also rarely use messenger and have zero interest in having the entire right sidebar ONLY my "contacts." I just want to interact in a handful of groups and nothing else.

I don't mind but I don't think the dark mode goes well with the new layout, it always gives me a headache, keeping going back to the light version.

It should be a plain white page saying "Close this page and get an actual life...". It has now been 16 months of irreversibly deleting my Facebook and Instagram accounts, and I have been blessed every minute since. The amount of time I got back for myself is unbelievable and I wasn't even an avid user!

I deleted my account in 2017...My stress has gone down significantly (political posts, drama, etc are gone).

I communicate with my real friends via iMessage/email. Interaction is more organic and genuine.

But that's just me.

I gave it a try out of curiosity on a 12-core 3.46GHz 2012 Mac Pro with Mojave and Safari 13.1.2 and the new design can't keep up with my typing. Any time it thinks anything I've typed matches anything it knows, it tries to throw a little autocompletion popup at me, which is probably why it's so slow, and with the typing delay all sorts of wackiness happens. Hit 'enter' at the wrong time and you've tagged who-knows-what. Also it takes around 5 seconds from when you click on a photo to when it shows it to you, and almost 10 seconds from hitting the X to close that and go back to the previous view.

Facebook today switched me to the new layout for the second time, and I soon switched back for the second time. I may switch off when the move is forced, if not then I will be using it a lot less.

I couldn't find Most Recent, not even where it was said to be earlier in this thread. Any other way of viewing is far less useful.

The main feed has content so enlarged that hardly anything can be seen, and there is so much clutter elsewhere.

It defaulted to the new view this morning. SO SLOW! I was finishing typing sentences and having to wait 2 minutes for it to catch up! Said that the page was constantly using intensive processor time.

Facebook's rolling updates that span many months is kind of ridiculous. My mom joined a few months ago and is stuck on classic, she does not have the option to switch to the new look. She'll likely be forced to use the new look rather than being able to switch between the two as she gets used to it, like I have been doing. On the other hand, dark mode was available on her iPhone right away. I'm still waiting for that on mine...

I deleted mine in 2014, I reactivated in 2018-19 to promote my work, but I am still not active and start to wonder if it was a good idea, soon I will hit that delete button

Lots of wasted screen space (left , right and top) . In dark mode, the hyperlinks are NOT visible. The only good thing I have experienced is that you can NOW pinch (on laptop) in Safari and the HTML don't go wacky.

I can’t think of anything worse than a white font on a black background.
I had it on precisely for the time it took me to find out how to switch it off.

I've had the new facebook design since it came out and it is much better. Still not a huge fan, but I'm in the classic position of having too many contacts only use facebook, so I feel like I have to keep it.

The plus side of this new design in dark mode!
