Facebook Updates News Feed With Inspiration from Mobile Devices, Rolling Out Over Several Weeks

So they took ideas from the iPad app that they never wanted to do because it 'wasn't a mobile device'.

I really wish that people would migrate over to Google+ and ditch Facebook. Google's interface is so much cleaner and smoother.

In order to satisfy the analyists for Wall Street Investors, watch them send more & more advertising
to your page whether U want it or not and look forward to
them making it complicated to remove it. This site was
not designed to do something for the great unwashed, but
to make money in advertising. THIS WILL BE DONE...
and it will kill use of the site eventually. Look at FM radio,
its mostly obnoxious commercials which made way for Sirius XM....Facebook may say "okay no ads? Then we can do
that for $9.99 per month"

Signed up for the waiting list. Facebook revamping its UI is a good thing...in some ways it is really archaic.
So they're saying that most posts from the people I'm following will still be missing? Honestly, I don't care that much about the look of the site, I just want a way to be able to follow someone and see ALL their posts, not just stuff that passes through whatever algorithm they're using that week. If they want to have a pref for each person of show all/some/none posts in the news feed, that would work for me.
But I guess that wouldn't work with their strategy of blocking posts and trying to extort money to get those to show up in people's feeds.
And are they going to add the feature currently in the mobile version where it starts with the most recently read post and you can scroll up from there? I've been wanting that for a long time, nice to have it on the phone but having it on the web would be nice too.

I find most of the people who say that used it at some point and friended everyone and their mother. It's only useful of you curate your list and its the entire reason Path has a friend limit.

Nope...they're going to force it on everyone, regardless if you use FB or not. There's not way to bypass it, or ignore it either.
This new news feed is going to be annoying, at least for a while. If I wanted mobile on my desktop, I would have gone to the m.facebook.com website for the mobile version

It's just the nature of the beast and how people have adapted to using it over time.
I don't use FB, in fact the only social media I use is YouTube, but when they do a redesign I don't prefer the previous version. I actually prefer the YT layout from six iterations ago.

Enough with the no ads internet complaint. Someone needs to pay for the bandwidth, employee's, etc. Advertising does this. It is needed!
