Yea, I'd like to know more about this. Can I use it for macOS and iOS?
It can be used for any OS. It's a network level blocking solution which blocks domains at the DNS level. You can build one on a Raspberry Pi or Linux on a physical box or in a virtual machine. You can add curated block lists and add your own, white list, black list domains and so forth. I am blocking over 3.3 million domains and I block all domains that are Facebook properties.

AND there are a lot of people I know who are successful, happy people in real life who are complete ********s on facebook...

Once again, users are products. Either uninstall the app or live with the violation of privacy.
Most will live with the violation. They really don't see what harm a company collecting or buying personal information is doing to them.

It’s not like the Book of Faces (doesn’t it sound creepy like that?!) are the only ones to do this... is it sucky behaviour? Yes. But it’s part of why I think much internet-based advertising is deeply stupid. If ads are ignoring my express wishes, that is a negative advertisment. I mean it actively puts me off a product or service, even if I happened to have had a vague interest. No such thing as bad publicity? Yeah, no, that’s a total canard if you ask me. Quack quack.

Correct, until it gets TOO personal. I only use Homekit devices as I don't want Google/Amazon/Samsung knowing when I get home everyday, or any other personal habits. I mean smart devices are totally cool. But what is the point they overstep the boundary? Say you use a 'connected' toothbrush everyday and one day you forget to brush. Do you want to get in your car to leave, say "Alexa, Open the garage door." And she replies - "Sorry, you should brush your teeth first. After all, you have a dentist appointment next week." Uh, no thanks...

This isn't a problem for folks who use a Pi-Hole, like me. I have it running at home, at work and I setup a VPN with a Pi-Hole to protect me when I'm mobile.
Or people like me who use a SOCKS5 proxy, tunneled over SSH. :p

I also have a VPN running over SSH, but it's a little cumbersome to work with for general traffic. Still trying to figure that one out. :p Does give me easy access to my home network, though.

Finally axed my account 4 months ago and have never looked back. It was such a time suck and not a good way to really stay in contact with the friends you actually care about and talk to on a regular basis...try picking up the phone and giving them a call for once instead of just browsing their photos

I deleted FB and let's see what is next on my hit list...

I have an account I rarely use. My wife is always using her account, however. She doesn’t care about any of the tracking or the fact she is “the product.” I suspect the majority of FB users I like her—they just don’t care.
I totally agree with you and this is why companies like FB continue to collect data.

Like there isn't enough people that keep the setting on that they have to find a way to keep tracking those that don't? I mean I usually just leave that stuff on anyway because I always figure this kinda of stuff is happening and really nothing is private/unhackable anyway. Pretty much nothing you do on the internet is private don't kid yourself that it is, but companies shouldn't act like you turned off things like tracking and still track you. Be upfront and honest at least.

I personally don't care about scrolling through ads. Companies need to make money and the current economy relies on this money for the jobs and retirement income they produce. Just don't be sneaky about it.

Come on Zuck!

It's not just Facebook. You can ALWAYS estimate the location from an IP address. See iplocation dot com and many other services. It's a general internet infrastructure issue. Unless IP addresses are encrypted or completely randomized, you'll always be able to tell the location. Just use a VPN if you're concerned.

Zuck... what a weenie. Idk who’s a better living definition of corrupt. Him or Hillary.

This is news?

Don’t lots of ads use IP address to deliver local ads?

Not even defending Facebook

The Tl;dr is facebook is creepy as hell. But probably not for this reason specifically.
