I'm in NYC and still doesn't work for me. I live in White Plains and never get LTE service. I didn't think there was LTE service for AT&T yet???

Sorry, I was not aware I had to be on LTE at the moment to activate FT.

And you are correct, there is not LTE here yet, every now and then it pops up, but with signal, so I'm guessing it might be close.

I have a 4S and I am at work now where I dont have a drop of service (att) It actually says No Service so I figured I would try the reset when the pop up comes up method and that works. Its now on.

I'm on a very old 2gb tiered family plan. My girlfriend is on a grandfathered unlimited on verizon with her 4s and her tab was already switched on in the settings.

EDIT: CT here.

Just tried it out, it works, not great but it works!

No go

No go in Lynnwood (Seattle), WA as of the time of this posting. Restarted phone, did not reset network settings. iPhone 5 Unlimited data.

I just talked with 3 different At&t reps and they all said that the facetime over cellular is restricted to only Those with an iPhone 5 and a tiered data plan.

I don't know why this is rolling out like this, they each kept denying that anyone with an unlimited plan is using facetime over cellular.

Weird. Works for me and Im not on an unlimited plan but an older 2gb family plan they dont offer anymore. With a 4S

I tried FaceTime after seeing this. It asked me to connect to wifi. I checked the cellular settings and FT was on. I tried turning it off and on, but it gave me a popup to call 611. FT is on if you check cellular settings while it's searching or no service after rebooting. It turns off after it finds AT&T.

For those having problens making calls i just wanted to confirm that ive made several calls and my switch is still on. try restarting again maybe.

My Thoughts

I remember during Hurricane Sandy, tethering became available on my iPad even though I did not pay for it or activate it.

I figured it was because of the towers getting screwed up from the storm. It was the only logical explanation.

Could the same thing be happening here? They put a restriction on Unlimited Users but not users with a tiered plan.

It could be, just a guess, that their networks are getting messed up from the fixes they are doing.

Only East Coast? C'mon has to be Sandy.

After actually reading the thread, I noticed there was a dude in north Texas and another in Denver who stated they were able to FaceTime over cellular on unlimited data. Not to take credit away from your theory; it's still a great one.

It is too bad that the main person I would want to do this, once it is enabled in my market, is using an iPhone 4, which doesn't support Facetime over Cellular :(

You don't have to be on LTE to make FT calls. It works on 3G/4G also...just doesn't work when I'm on edge

Still not working in Los Angeles

Tried to switch it on when I woke up at 5AM and just did it again, still don't have Face Time.

Thats weird. It worked last night, I had to reboot the phone this morning and it turned off (with popup)

I reboot the phone again just now, and facetime is back on! I dont know whats going on but a reboot helps!

Edit:
Could it be possible it turns off once you switch towers? I cant think of why it would just turn off

I'm in NYC and have been trying to turn the switch on all fing morning. It finally worked a minute ago. I have ATT grandfathered unlimited plan... FINALLY:D

Today I went to work, and since there's no LTE near this area my iPhone 5 falls back on AT&T's 4G network, and I believe the Facetime Cellular Toggle switched off when it did the switch. However, restarting the device again toggled it back on on the 4G network.

I rebooted my phone this morning (in SoCal w/unlimited) and it first showed that it was on (while it was searching for a network) and once it found a network and showed AT&T on the top it automatically switched back to the off position. When I tried to switch it back to the on position it gave me the popup.
