How is the voice quality when it has to pick up audio from across the room? I’m guessing iPhones mics weren’t really designed for that.
I’ve had no issue, me and my daughter have been on the couch probably 12-15 feet away and everyone we’ve called has heard us fine

Anyone know what stand are they using for the iPhone in the keynote.
(at 1:03:40 in the keynote)

This is great BTW, we should have had this during the lockdowns . . . . .
I think it's the Belkin one, just folded up.

It's here: https://www.apple.com/ios/ios-17-preview/ Scroll down to footnote 3.
Thanks for finding that! 👍

Unfortunately I'm still using a 1st Gen 4K so the feature I've wanted for a while now won't work.

Instead, after discovering the Xbox can do FaceTime, I think I'll invest in a webcam for that instead. I want to use it to FT with the grandparents, and on an iPhone or iPad the kids can't stop playing with the video features. This sorta setup would fix that. 😄

Does anyone know if the Lidar camera comes with the continuity camera (i.e. for FaceTime?)? I ask because this could be fun! Think of having a Microsoft connect camera on your iPhone and being able to interact with games, fitness +, change the volume or channel with a wave. The potential would be huge. I thought apple bought the rights to the technology about ten years ago...

There’s a FaceTime app on the top row on my  TV now, when you open that it sends a pop up to your phone to initiate the continuity camera, you accept, set up the camera where you want and then you can initiate a call on the  TV itself, it works seamlessly
For me the call connects but for some reason I can’t see the other person on my TV. Not sure how to fix it.

I have the same exact issue. Can’t see the other person but they can see me. If I use FaceTime on my iPhone on IOS17 to call the same person, video works fine. Just can’t see her when on Apple TV. Anyone figure out a solution?

Lame. Thanks for checking. Maybe I'll submit it as a feature request. Seems totally obvious to use the remote mic - all AppleTVs come with a bluetooth remote with a mic that people can hold in their hands or place on the coffee table in front of them.
Bluetooth Mics sound terrible

Perhaps i’m the only one - but the FaceTime function is still mega buggy. Only solve most of the time is to restart my tv and phone. Hope beta 4 is close!

Guys, i am using ios17b4 and tvos17b4 (apple tv 4k 2nd gen). Facetime is not working. It cannot start video or call or anything. I think that the Continuity camera is not working. Any ideas? Or it's just the beta.

Have you tried restarting the Apple TV and turning off and back on your phone? That has happened to me and is definitely a beta problem.

As it stands, FaceTime on Apple TV is not ready for primetime (which I guess is expected since it is a beta) but I have seen limited advancements since 6/5/23 to today (7/26/23) and launch is <2 months away.

Hey, thanks for replying. Yes, i have tried restarting, reseting and everything i can think of. From beta 1 i hoped it will be fixed in beta 2. From beta 2 hoped to be fixed in beta 3... now i hope to be fixed in beta 5 :D

Yeah - completely understood. I could see this being moved back from 17 to 17.1 easily. It is the tentpole feature for tvOS 17, but is not ready for primetime and could (in my opinion) cause more negativity than positivity. I attempted to show it to some friends who were at our place recently and it would not work, starting the ATV from a cold start. If it doesn't work and people try it in Sept/Oct, they won't go back to it given unreliability

Really odd, I’ve had virtually no issues with it since beta 1, in fact I’ve been impressed with how well it works and I wish I had more occasions to use it

This has been my experience as well. Initially I did a weird setup with my iPad on my ottoman so that I would get a good angle and not be super small in the middle of the room immediately realized I didnt need to do all that lol. The camera did an amazing job and the sound was perfect.

Updating to add I haven’t been able to get my phone to connect. Only my iPad has worked with it so far.
