A facetime call over LTE probably slurps down 50mb (guessing)...
Imagine someone with a 250mb LTE plan, and by the end of the day or week using factime, they go over 250mb.... ouch..
The carriers got you guys by the balls LTE users....
The average person, probably never.
The not so average entitled whiners on sites like this that are simply mad about being told they can't do something because they don't like being told that no matter what the reason, if you listen to them it is the end of the world that they can't FaceTime on a cell connection. Classic first world problem.
I'm not surpried, but if you REALLY wanted to do it when you are out, just use your iPhone as a personal hotspot and connect that with the iPad via WiFi, that's if you really needed it of course.
I think at least Apple needs to call out it's "partner" networks on this issue.
Apple and the carriers are not giving us what we want.Apple is not above reproach.
Apple is not infallible.
The roadblocks we all face are the result of greed. And I blame Apple as well as all the carriers.
Even better, use the iPad as an LTE hotspot and use the iPhone for your FaceTime!

Somehow, I am not surprised. Cellular carriers.
You know what bothers me the most? The lack of any official word on an open specification for Facetime.
Sure, I will be honest, I never believed that Apple would have let it be an open standard (after all, they would be giving up potential hardware sales), but the fact that Steve Jobs said it, over two years ago, and not a single peep has been muttered since... it just doesn't jive with me.

My guess is that FaceTime over LTE will happen when they announce the new iPhone either in Summer or Fall.
