This is like the second time he has "died". He always dies when there is going to be some sort of announcement.

honestly, wtf kinda lame argument is that? Because so many people are interested in his health it means that he should be forced release PRIVATE (even the government says its private) information? Thats not right.

All in the name of money though right?

That's right people, ever hear of HIPAA (or as some would like to put it HIPPA)? there is a clause in there that states medical information cannot be shared without the person's consent. $10,000 min fine for anyone who does or looks at another's medical records without cause....

I work in the medical industry and have to sign agreements all the time that I will not share the information I come across while invesitigating computer/data problems.

its the reason why medical records are so hard to get, you have to be a family member or a spouse.

a spouse of the oppsite sex apparantly.(screw that civil union ****, just let people who love each other get married already! its 2008!)

What the hell does that have to do with anything?

Oh, right. Nothing.

im not sure if he got the name right, but medical records are confidential here in the usa

The name is right, and I live here in the USA and I know medical records are confidential. But I'd still like to know what the hell that has to do with anything being discussed in this thread.

It has to do with all the people complaining about apples price dropping in reaction to this hoax, and calling for Jobs to release his medical records so that their precious money is safe at the expense of a persons privacy

i hope this A hole who ever started the rumor gets some sort of punishment out of this...

I haven't seen anyone insist that Jobs release his medical records. As for the "privacy" to which he is entitled, that issue has already been addressed.

And my money is precious to me, just as I am sure yours is precious to you.

a case against "ireporting". these steve jobs fatal disease/deaths rumors are ridiculous. leave him alone.

I wonder what will happen to Apple when Steve Jobs isn't around any more. It's troubling to think of Apple without him. Surely they have a contingency plan in the event of a tragic event?

'fake' rumour

whats a 'fake' rumour? isnt it just a 'rumour'?

i think it should read 'unfounded rumours of steve jobs heart attack circulate'... its not fake, its a real rumour. its not something else, some other type of discourse masquerading as a rumour. the only thing fake about this rumour is the sincerity (supposedly) of the person who started it. of course, in the context of the internet sincerity doesn't really have to come into it.

probably no one else cares about this. i just thought it was interesting, especially in the context of this, a website devoted to 'macrumors'.

id be interested to see if there is any other editorial content that refers to rumours as being 'fake'. i imagine there's not a great deal (if any), and this use reveals something about the way mr jobs is regarded.

As of writing, 8 people have ALREADY voted this news positive.
WTF?!

Nice. Real nice.

The entire problem here is there is no way to gauge why people vote the way they do. It doesn't even have to be malicious. A typical pessimist would vote the opposite of a typical optimist. The reaction may be to one part of the news and not the other. It might be over a percieved editorialization and not the facts themselves, or the facts and not the editorial comments.

OH FREK!! Coronel Sanders is dead!!! I guess that means no more KFC... cough ..sarcasm.. cough

In all fairness though, the fast food industry doesn't change as quickly as technology does. The difference in decades means lot more difference to computers than it does to a bucket of chicken.

Nope, his health is absolutely not private. It is tied to apple's stock price as seen by this fiasco and the stock is public making his health a very public factor.

Post #32, and #91 might be construed as such too. There may be others.

Addressed in your opinion. Apparently opinions differ. HIPPA is entirely about medical privacy. Those rules are considerably more strict and less vague than the SEC rules on this matter. It's not just a matter of records. They can't even say what condition(s) or severity of condition a patient has without the patient's consent. I'm not sure they can even confirm or deny a person was a patient.

Someone mentioned health records of presidential candidates, AFIAK, candidates don't have to let anyone see their medical records at all. They simply choose to.

And my money is precious to me, just as I am sure yours is precious to you.

Maybe they would comply if enough stockholders demanded such reports. Maybe you can complain to the SEC. Also, you are free to invest your money wherever you like. Jobs will eventually die, he may even retire before then, it's only a matter of when. I don't think having more information necessarily helps.

Perhaps "false" rumor would have been better?
