I have to say it was fun following this story. To KellyTM, sure you wasted some of our time and energy but people really need to take it easy if they get upset. That's all I have to say. Looking forward to the SDK.

Would the release of the SDK be a good time for Apple to release Itunes 8, or at least an update to itunes to support it?

if it's going to use iTunes, it would more than likely need an update... er.. yes, it will have an update of some sort ...

Hey Guys,
It's finally time I just come out and say it; I lied.

Sincerest Apologies,
KellyTM/Tiny-Code Developer

THAT WAS HILARIOUS DUDE! Awesome... well done. I love when stuff like this happens... and to think... I got banned because I jokingly made up a link to 10.5.2 before it was out.

Well, which story to actually believe in now. Apple is the only one who can offer some direction and I am sure they will not.

Having said that, if Kelly's latest post is the truth, then I have to hand it to him to even get Fortune to publish this story. They have been taking the lazy route of writing news stories on Apple by just summarizing what is discussed on a few Apple sites like macrumors etc. which I found to be extremely unprofessional for a magazine like Fortune, so this would teach them a good lesson. So I say, overall, it is a plus.

What a complete waste of everyone's time. To all those "ZOMG YOU ARE AWESOME MAN", I don't believe this is humorous at all. And I also can't believe you would eagerly throw away your own credibility and integrity.
I hope you NEVER do something like that again.

Tiny-Code never had any relations with Apple, Inc. or any other division of Apple. Never had the new firmware or any pre-SDK pack. Certainly never signed any NDA.

I find it interesting that a simple joke on the front of a minor at best Installer.app repo can cause so many wakes.
It is equivocally funny that a simple re-enforcement of the page by me posted earlier stating I had been "reprimanded" by Apple could throw it even more into believability.
To top it all off, a simple redirection of the domain to Apple's iPhone Developer center would cause so many theories as to why that is so when it was to just stop the "where did it go" questions.

All of it should teach everyone at these rumor sites WWWide to not trust anything that did NOT come from the mouth of Apple.
8 lines of text were published on Friday, by Sunday those lines of text are one of the biggest talked about and debated lines of text across Apple related internet sites.

This goes to prove anyone can register a domain one week and less than two later be believed, talked about, debated over, defended, ratted on, bashed, requested to be interviewed on DowJones Newswire and everything else under the sun. The power of the internet is amazing.

I do however wish to make a few apologies because I never actually planned for anyone to give a flying **** about my page or what was on it, let alone make it so popular.

To Apple, Incorporated:
I duly apologize for any confusion I may have caused amongst your ranks attempting to figure out if Tiny-Code or KellyTM belonged to any of the developers you did in fact release firmware to.
I duly apologize for time wasted if anyone at Apple was called in to discuss what was released over a weekend when you should have been off.

To Developers out there:

I apologize for possibly making obtaining pre-release firmware harder to obtain in the future and possibly discrediting any of you in the process.

To MacRumors and other websites publishing information and threads based on what was found on my site:
I apologize you have wasted your time and front-page space on nothing but a made up joke filled with a lie.
I apologize for the time you spent creating your reports and articles and time you will spend writing an article about this.

To Everyone who defended me:

Thank you for your defense and had this not been a lie, you would have been defending someone and that is a good thing, be proud.
I apologize it wasn't truth.

To everyone who bashed me:

well, lol, I can't really apologize to you.

As for the up-side of this:
Rumor sites such as this, Apple Insider, etc, you will have to learn, things like this happen, and you should verify or attempt to credit things said on domains with no more than two pages.

Overall I just apologize. I do not expect forgiveness and I definitely understand the posts following this to be nothing more than bashing. Just know than when I posted that information I had no intention for attention or otherwise, it was simply an excuse to stop publishing to the repo; seemed like a good one at the time.

Sincerest Apologies,
KellyTM/Tiny-Code Developer

Glad to know it was a joke, and you made a good point.

Having said that, and I'm not upset with you in anyway. I'll also make a note to always check any software I purchase in the future, and to make sure that you and whatever company you work for have no association with it whatsoever. I find it hard press to trust someone who writes software for the public who does this kind of thing as a joke to users and developers.

Anyone that is a regular of the MacRumors website knows that not all rumors are true. The fact that you think your one false rumor is enough to sway people to not trust ANYTHING that is printed on a rumor site just further shows the high regard you have for yourself.

Allow me to apologize. I'm sorry that your life is so unfulfilling that you have nothing better to do than concoct this false story and then make fun of those that discussed it. I hope that you find more fulfilling pursuits in the future ;)

web apps are hardly applications ....

They are applications just like native applications are. As a software developer, I have developed some high end web applications as well as native running applications and they are equally as much work. One just has an interface that is web based and one doesn't.
Most of the applications I work on are web based and are used for mission critical jobs in industry.

As for on the iPhone/touch most of the web apps are simple and not that complex or useful since an internet connection is required, but .... they are still applications.

Hahaha well that's pretty funny.

Personally I didn't invest much in it and as I said before "took it with a grain of salt"...like every rumor on this website.

I have in my mind what I want to see in this SDK, and I hope Apple delivers.

I would agree if it was such a big deal, but it isn't really. I certainly wouldn't trust him with my wallet (hahah though, who on this forum would I trust anyway).

Kelly:

why did you take the site down then?

Because I felt like feeding the fire at that point?
Remember, I didn't know this was happening until Saturday night, I was away all friday night and saturday, by then my site was EVERYWHERE.

After some advice from Dessa, a friend of mine, I decided to feed the flame a bit.
However it was now time to douse it before I got burned.

I'm sure his initial intent was to drive waves of traffic to his site, but realized that credibility and integrity was on the table.

I think he did the right thing, but you can't bash the man for being creative with this ploy... people like him are the reason viral marketing works. ( even in Apple's respect )

I hope the installer app and its community does not suffer as result of the sdk from apple as i can foresee apple charging for all the apps i already have gotten on my iphone for free from the installer just look at the 1.1.3 ipod touch update $20 iphone apps that are on the installer for free personaly i will wait for all the sdk apps to be reverse engineered and put on they great wonderous installer hopefully my contributions to the great developers of the installer repositorys will aid in this so i say scew greedy apple i wait for the underground sdk apps

Your reasons for doing it lack common sense.

You say you never intended for it to become a big thing, or you never intended it to get a lot of attention: but in reality, you did

Just admit it. It's not a big deal. Everyone wants a little E-fame. So here is your 15 minutes. Except, it happened to be for something so childish and you will forever be taken as a joke now.

Congrats.

I have to say, I don't think what Kellytm did is in anyway justifiable, but what I do find amazing is that supposedly reputable journalists and publications picked up on the rumours and ran with them.

There was something about this that just didn't ring true (and I posted as much a day or so ago) and while I wasn't that surprised to see my post knocked he has done a service in highlighting that it's also stories you see printed in the mainstream media - without the warning of 'rumor' in the title - you need to take with a hefty pinch of salt.

It isn't just rumors that are printed in the mainstream media. We constantly see single-source reporting or simple regurgitating of political talking points happen ALL THE TIME now. I wish this were the exception and not the rule.
