How the hell do you guys not flip out at anything faster than 1.6? Even 2.0 was crazy. And it was first set to 2.5. I felt like my phone was on crystal meth

This has got to be one of the best tweaks I have ever used. It really makes my iPhone 4 seem better in all regards. Ive noticed a couple "glitches" such as the springboard icons wobbling at high speed when moving them around. But other than that, I couldnt be happier!

The network activity icon also goes really really fast.

Has anyone noticed increase RAM usage and slightly higher battery drain as mentioned in the second link quoted above?

I have not installed this yet, would love too but would like to here more about the impact on the device.

Do apps actually load faster or is it just the animations?
What apps have improved the most with this tweek like BiteSMS (mentioned earlier) , and any apps not working properly besides (Sudoku2 mentioned earlier)

Please post your results, thanks!

I've been monitoring both the RAM usage and battery life, and I'm happy to report that this seems to have no effect on either one. Others may experience different results, but on my 3GS it works flawlessly (oh, and I'm using it at 2.0 and it seems to be just about right for me).

I don't think apps actually load faster, just the animations, but it makes it FEEL like they load faster (if that makes any sense). Even if this is achieved through somewhat slight-of-hand, it's worth it. It just makes the entire phone feel...well, snappier.

I don't play a lot of games on my phone, but I'll probably set this to 1 if I do, just so it doesn't interfere with the animations. And yeah, it does seem to make BiteSMS run smoother or faster (but then again, it may just be the slight-of-hand again...lol).

Overall, I haven't seen ANY adverse effects from this tweak and I'd highly recommend it. But, unless you want to feel all twitchy, I'd recommend keeping the speed set at 2.5 or below (maybe even 2.0 or below). Things just look and feel crazy (especially the wiggling of the icons) if you're above that! :D

KentuckyHouse,

Thanks for the reply, glad to see no adverse affects on your part.
I might have to give this a go soon enough!

Thanks again!

I think it a cool hack I'd say give it a try if you don't like it just uninstall it through Cydia. I settled on 2.5X as well. Some apps appear to load faster I have noticed it with cydia as well. only crashed once when I ran RemoveBG ran it several other times and it didn't crash. I haven't noticed any battery life or memory effects either.

This is one great app. I have been waiting for my phone to totally crash out but everything is fine. I have my set for 10+. No battery drainage. Sometimes I do have to put it back on 2.5 because it races to fast for me but overall I am happy with my phone going faster.:p

Also to add to KentuckyHouse's excellent post, i have no effect on RAM (iphone 4, 4.1), etc etc..

Currently 300~ MB after a respring. All this tweak does is tweak the animation speed that apple has set. For example the Volume Limiter - you can increase or decrease to a more suitable level.

Glad to see everyone is having good results - and I agree with some of you this is an excellent tweak.

i finally got the source to add. though this is a great little tweak, i didnt find myself liking it too much for whatever reason. i think i am so used to the iphone speed as is it felt too different.

i have mine set for 1.4 on a iPhone4 with firmware 4.1.2 untethered. Works fine. Anything faster then that just feels odd.

Same here. While it can give the illusion things are running faster I prefer the factory setting best. It was fun to play around with but I uninstalled it within a few minutes.

i just changed my setting from 1.6 to 1.4, it actually seems perfect now. has the feel of the increased speed but doesnt seem like the phone freaks out everytime you tap on something. i might switch between 1.6 and 1.4 just to make sure.

Theres more to this then providing the "illusion" that the phone performs faster. In some cases, the phone DOES perform faster.

Let me explain.

Of course tasks that require actual calculations stay the same (e.g. the actual loading process of apps). However on things where the animation is the only element (such as unlocking the phone, or closing apps to the homescreen, or switching apps using the task switcher or drilling down into menus or...the list goes on) the phone is indeed performing faster with this tweak. I can dismiss the lockscreen and have a usable desktop, instantly being able to launch an app, faster with this tweak enabled than stock. I can switch apps and switch back faster. I can go through settings menus faster. I can close apps and launch a new one faster.

This tweak makes the phone faster.

Agreed.

I'm still waiting for a downside to installing this tweak. It almost seems too good to be true. Like that bag of unmarked hundred dollar bills I found in the trunk of an abandoned car on the side of the highway.
