Off topic but regarding to the same Moyashi repo there's a tweak called DefaultFlashOff which by coincidence is just what I've been looking for since the day I got the iPhone 4. When you open the Camera app the flash defaults to "off" for the available light lovers among us. :)

no no no.. the other good tweak/app from that repo is onchargelaunch! that paired with weatherpin is perfect!

Those two sound liek a nice match for each other. For anyone who may not know it turns your device into a clock and weather source while it's charging. The screen never locks so it's always there. The reviews for Weather Pin aren't the best a the moment but I can't really say one way or another. I've never tried that app.

I think it's great that this obscure repo has all of these useful things to offer.

I'm giving this one another try. I think I may have dismissed this tweak too quickly. For some things, like opening the Settings app, it doesn't really do much. Although, navigating through the Settings app sub-menus is very quick now.

Many other apps are available to use faster than the stock setup.

What is the Moyashi repo?

are all apps sped up too?? I noticed when navigating through the Twitter For iPhone app its faster

It seems that any apps that use animations/transitions are sped up significantly. My ESPN ScoreCenter app, BiteSMS, even Safari (the animations when switching to a new page, pulling up bookmarks, going "back") are much faster, making the overall app "feel" faster, especially on my iPad.

This works great on my 3G. If Apple had done something this simple it would have made a big difference in attitudes about 4.x.

^^theres no reason the 3G can't run at the same speed as the 3GS, they use the same hardware, what Apple should do is release a firmware patch to boost the CPU up to its' proper speed.

The 3G has a totally different CPU than the 3GS/iPhone 4, and also a much, much inferior GPU. A "speed bump" to the 3G wouldn't make it run anywhere near the 3GS.

The internal hardware of the original iPhone and then the 3G are almost identical. Believe it or not, the 3GS and iPhone 4 are more alike hardware-wise than the 3G and 3GS are.

My buddy told me that one game he plays that has a timer involved was sped up too. Be careful of that.

QFT, in fact I would argue that they are pretty much identical. The 3GS and 4 both use the same GPU, and the CPU in both is the same Cortex A8 chip, one at 600mhz, and the i4 runs at a (now confirmed) 800mhz. Explains why the 4 and 3GS seem to run about the same speed, the 4 is using the extra juice to power the high resolution.

with all the ranting going on I decided to give it another go and and now it works. Loving 2x!

UGh. This may make me break down and do a tethered JB!

I've been tethered for about 10 days no only had to connect it once. you can respring all day long just don't turn it off or reboot it and your golden. Also you could go for the beta. honestly I wish I would have done the tethered jb sooner. :D Oh I'm 10x now too, :p
