Do you want to specifically have GPS report a certain precise location, or are you trying to do a more general "I'm in Canada instead of the US" level?

There are VPN services that will make your internet connection appear to come from a different country - but as far as I know, there is no way to fake a GPS report. (i.e. no, you can't make "Find my iPhone" report you're at the library when you're really at the mall.)

What would be the reason for doing this?
To fool an app or a website into giving you a service or something else.

For example, if you could fool the BBC iPlayer into thinking you were in the UK when you were actually in the US, you could view BBC content.

That of course doesn't work for the BBC iPlayer (I've tried it) even when jailbroken, but I just use it here as an example.

Like sviato said the safer way (for whatever the reason is), it is to leave the phone at point A, process to point B w/o phone and no one can track you.

I sometimes go to place where I either leave my phone in the car purposely (like a doxtor's office or attorney visit or anywhere a personal/private conversation is going to take place.

----------

What would be the reason for doing this?

It could be an active extra-marital affair, it could be he/she doesn't want the ex to track them, or it could be that he's job could be one of those 007 type of government jobs. Or it could be that he/she just has privacy concerns.

Or it can't hide at all. There maybe apps out there that fake ip origination points (I'm not a programmer or engineer), but yes the GPS log, phone tower log and Apple history log meta data it is impossible to escape location unless you leave the phone behind (probably even turned off).

What an interesting topic.

Wants to commit a murder, and use location services as an alibi.

Tells boss he is visiting a client, but is really at home having a nap.

So GF no 1 doesn't know about GF no 2.

On a diet and likes to sneak fast food, but the wife tracks his every move.

Is a spy.

Is paranoid about being tracked by CIA types.

pretty simple - don't give out your Apple ID password to anyone - then they can't track you. The 'Find My iPhone' app should only be used for the sole purpose of when YOU lose one of your idevices.

This is getting way off topic.

I think it was only mentioned once but you need to jailbreak to spoof GPS locations.

Op did say without a jailbreak. Also, while connected to a cell tower, your approximate real location is captured, and available to parties as legally appropriate.

I'd be more concerned that something might happen to me while my location was spoofed.

Sure ems can use the cell tower reports, but that would require a court order and depending on the situation take more time than I have.

I suspect the OP might find himself in the trunk of a car and go "whoops.. Maybe that wasn't such a good idea"
